aj went into the kitchen grabbing a pop tart and a bag of little bites for bugs.

"happy birthday bubby!" li walked into the kitchen handing aj 65 dollars

"preciate it li" aj smirked kissing her cheek

"you riding the bus or coming wit me?"

"riding the bus me and bugs getting hev" he told his sister making her smirk

"you like heaven huh?" she asked with a smile

"nah that's the homegirl she like my other bestfriend" aj shrugged

"mmhm bestfriend my ass i see how you be looking at her"

"looking at her like how ion want that girl" aj rolled his eyes

"whatever have a good first day!" li said walking out the house

aj went to his room grabbing his backpack putting on his retros smoothing his shirt throwing on a jacket. putting the snacks in his bag he walked out the house looking the door walking to the bus stop seeing bugs with heaven.

"ahh wassup lil nigga happy birthday!" bugs shouted when saw aj

"thanks bitch" they dapped each other up

"happy birthday alijah" heaven said with a smile

"thank you hev" aj gave her a hug with a big smile on his face

being that not only was today aj's 14th birthday but it was also the first day on eighth grade. although alijah was happy it was his birthday he was also sad that his mother wasn't here to wish him happy birthday. no matter how many years passed it still hurt him.

"how was today aj?" alijah sr. asked

"it was cool" aj shrugged drinking his pop

"i know you miss her i do too and i know she probably up there talking about how her baby boy growing up on her" aj chuckled wiping his tears

"don't be sad boy it's your birthday today's posed to be happy!" alijah sr. said patting aj's shoulder

bugs and heaven came over to celebrate his birthday which made him happy, his dad had got him a new four wheeler and he took bugs and heaven on a ride down the neighborhood, ty got him a new playstation and the latest madden game, and li got him some new jordans. overall his birthday was good but it was complete yet.

"aye pops?"

"wassup aj?"

"can we go see ma before it gets dark?"

"yeah come on" alijah grabbed his keys standing up

the drive to the cemetery was quiet besides biggie playing on the radio and alijah lowly rapping the song. aj leaned his head on the window holding the roses he picked up for his mom tightly. once they arrived at the cemetery aj got out going to her gravesite, while alijah sr stayed back.

"hey momma i miss you so much, it still feels weird celebrating without you but i made a new friend and she kinda reminds me of you. me and bugs the starting six on varsity this year. i hope i'm making you proud i love you momma watch over us" aj said kissing her tombstone setting the flowers down before walking back to the car
