Narrator's pov

"Aren't you suppose to be in my class?"
A middle aged man folded his arms across his chest, leaning his shoulder against the doorframe as he watched back and forth between the two girls
A little lean in and they witnessed their classmates staring back at them, some avoiding eye contact. It was obvious that everyone heard the commotion outside
"Take a seat" the man waved his hand, allowing the two girls to enter the class
Both were finally silent, their eyes avoided each other as they entered the classroom
Summers eyes glanced over the seats, most had been occupied but she preferred to be in a spot where she could avoid people at all costs
The girl then walked through the aisles, finding a seat at the back of the classroom
The teacher continued his lesson, her voice was loud enough for Summer go focus on but her mind and eyes were still occupied by an infuriating brown hair girl
Her brain was screaming for the girl to now come sit anywhere close to her
To her surprise, the brunette fitted herself at a chair right in front of the class
Close enough to reach over the teacher's table, must be a Teacher's pet, Summer thought
The girl shook her and crossed her arms against her chest, allowing her body to finally settle into her seat
Her focus was still on anything other than school
She was close enough to the big, clear glass window near the wall. Her shoulder barley leaned against it as she turned her attention outside
Cold air took the sky, greeting the fallen leaves resting on a brown dirt path. The green leaves danced with joy as the wind traveled through them, one by one greeting a friend and settling quietly until another passed by
Summer always found it hard to focus in class, she could never hold her concentration on whoever spoke yet she managed to pass all of her classes. Preferably, being alone with a book had done more for her than any teacher had
"Combustible materials" the man said
She had no idea why she wanted to study science, there was no interest there in the first place
But she couldn't tell her parents that she wanted to study art
Her mother would scream her ears off, a lecture she would never forget. It was as if they're investment wasn't for her future, it was for the story they wanted their bloodline to have. "a doctor and a nurse in the family". So she agreed to whatever they said, but managed to slip in a few creative art classes inside too
Which only led her to wonder what Melanie was doing here in the first place
Her eyes then wondered over to the brunette girl at the head of the class
But to her surprise, Melanie's eyes were already on her here
Honey brown orbs were trailing up her body. Slowly, those eyes captured her whole and tugged on her heart
Summer couldn't help but raise a brow at the girl, awaiting her eyes to lock with her own
Melanie's face immediately turned red and her eyes widened in fear at the fact that she had been caught
Summer chuckled to herself watching the red stained girl try to force an angry look on her face as if she wasn't just checking her own
So she pulled a smirk on her lips and gave the girl a wink
