Narrator's pov
-
Events happen and people are never the same afterwards. It could be the simplest things like someone else blowing out your candles on your birthday
Or that one family get-together that ends in a fight between two aunts
Events happen and people are never the same
Which is exactly why Summer was on edge and in her own world
"Come on Summer, talk to me" Her father said
The girl had her head leaning against the window with her chin on her knuckles
"You haven't spoken to anyone since you came home from school Friday, is something wrong? Who do I have to report!" he said
"Nothing" Summer mumbled
It had been two days since her kiss with the brunette girl, and now it was Sunday. Her father had agreed to take her early to the church so she could start her cleaning that she agreed to
But the memories still lingered, flashbacks back and had her insides tingling at the image
Remembering Melanie's arms hooked around her neck, pushing her in deeper in attempt to taste her on her lips
Their heaving chests pressed together, desperate for air but a tension pulling them back in
But with the flutter in her chest, brought a bad butterflies
Melanie left that day without saying a word. Summer had no answers, no questions, nothing for the past two days
Just an empty letter to the unknown
What made her even nervous was the fact that she would see the girl later today in church
If she even stuck around
Summer had a plan to ditch the church service after cleaning and reappear when it was over
All in attempts to avoid the girl
The truth was, she couldn't get Melanie off her mind and she knew it
In the beginning, she kept thinking about the girl because of her annoyance and the many times her parents would brag about the girl
"oh Melanie won this award at the church fair' or 'Melanie got voted best student for blah blah blah" it was simply annoying
Especially seeing her face everywhere she went. To the beach, to restaurants, to classes. It was overwhelming frustrating
But now she couldn't get the girl off her mind
The image of her called to her emotions, Melanie's beauty always had her heart but now it was intoxicating. Her smile, almost rare to find but when spotted... It was the sunrise over mountains, touching the tip of earthy rocks and bringing light to these below
Her laugh stood out in the middle of a club, so unique and fulfilling, bringing a smile to anyone who listened
Her eyes the soul of the earth, where no man had polluted with misery. For it was untouched and innocent, the brown soil that bloomed sweet nectar flowers when awake
When she was calm, being in her company was like watching the sunset over the horizon. It's orange specks radiating like her soul across those who witnessed it. A warm and inviting feeling before settling into peace
She craved to see her once more but the anxiety of what what happen next to enough to warn her away
"Alright, we'll come back later. Hope you have fun"
