Part 2 history of the Otome game

I still didn't understand a lot about what Arietta was talking about but I wanted to know more about this game and world she talked about.

I was playing in the courtyard when I saw her sitting under a tree reading a book and decided to ask her some questions that have been on my mind

"Hey sis. Can you tell me more about that Oh-tow-May game?" I asked my sister

She didn't seem to really hear me but she looked up and then I realized she had headphones on but she saw me so she took them off and left them hanging around her neck.

"Oh hello Yuna did you need something?" She asked me in her usual warm tone

"Sis is it ok if I ask you a question about a few days ago?" I asked her

She looked a bit puzzled but then realization hit her face and she exhaled audibly from her nose.

"Oh. About the Otome game I'm guessing?" She replied though her tone sounded slightly more cynical now

"Yeah. Sis what's an Oh-Tow-May game anyways?" I asked her which earned me a slightly surprised look on her face

She paused for a second to collect her thoughts before telling me. "Well Yuna an Otome game is a sort of game where your character falls in love with a certain boy in order to win." She said but that just left me with more questions

"So what do you mean by a certain boy sis?" This question spiraled into a long string of other questions ranging from Capture targets, to the heroine and villainess, to event flags until eventually.

"So then sis how many capture targets are there in the game?" I asked the big question

"Well there are 3 main capture targets." She replied but I was still curious so I continued with another question

"So is that a lot for an Oh-Tow-May game?" Which got a slightly enthusiastic smile from her

"Actually that's very small. Most Otome games usually have 5 main capture targets. Although unlike most Otome games this one takes place over the course of 4 years in college instead of 1 year in highschool and has a substantial epilogue story. I should know I've beaten the games 3 main routes." She looked proud of herself saying this

"Hey sis if those are the main routes are there more?" I asked which got me a surprising response

"Well Yuna there are actually 2 hidden characters in the game that you can romance but sadly I never got to play those routes or find out who the characters were all I know is that one of the two characters is a girl." She said still in nerd mode

"Oh between 2 girls? Like sisters?" I asked her

Her face had a somewhat embarrassed expression now and she went into over explanation mode.

"Well not exactly Yuna. You see a romantic relationship is something like what mother and father have. Our relationship is familial as we are related by blood. In many cases 2 people of the same... gender... also form strong relationships with one another but these relationships are usually platonic but sometimes they can actually be romantic choosing to spend their lives together loving one another." She had to gasp for air once she finished

"... Sis I don't know what half of those words mean." I just responded flatly

"Oh... don't worry about it Yuna You'll learn when you get older."

And that's the chapter. Only one chapter uploaded as of writing this and it's already been added to a couple reading lists WOOT. It'll probably be a while before my next update on this though because I have to handle school assignments and want to finish the first arc of journey of the appraising succubus before I really get into the meat and potatoes of this one and hey if you wanna read a darker story with a lot more characters maybe give that one a look (first few chapters are rough though)
