1.6 "There Could Have Been An Us"

Next day. morning.  

The carriage stopped and i froze. 

I got out of it and saw three people in front of me. 

Two men and one girl. 

Man "We don't want any trouble."

I shook my head "Neither do I, so I'll just be on my way."

Man "Clearly, you want out of East Ravka. But we can help you."

The girl nodded. 

Man "We have a secure route through the Fold."

I faked a smile "I prefer to travel alone."

The Man put a hand on the gun that was attached to his belt " Don't be rash. You stick with us, everybody gets what they want."

I glared at him " step aside and let me pass."

The other man "I'm afraid we can't let that happen."

Suddenly i blinded the guys but the girl raised her hands. 

I looked looked at her and she nodded. 

Then i ran away. 

In the woods.

I froze when i head my name being called. 

Then i looked around and saw Alina running towards me. 

My jaw dropped "Alina? oh saints, Alina!"

I ran to her and hugged her. 

she hugged me back "Aurelia. "

I let go of her and hugged Mal "oh saints"

He  hugged me back "we found you"

I looked at them shocked "Where have you been?"

Mal "We've been tracking you since you left the palace the night of the fete."

I snapped a little "So now I have your attention?"

Alina looked at me confused. 

Me "It's been months, Al. You couldn't be bothered to reply to a single one of my letters."

She froze, confused "What? I never heard a word from you. I wrote to you nearly every single day."

I scoffed, shaking my head "Sure you did. "

Then i looked at Mal " Are you still afraid of Grisha women?"

Mal "Only ones that keep secrets from me. "

Alina "How long have you known?"

Me "That I was Grisha?"

She nodded. 

 I asked confused "You thought I knew?"

Alina "You cheated on the test when we were children.You cut your own hand."

I shook my head "Not because I knew I was Grisha. Because I knew what would happen if I somehow passed their test. They would have taken me away. "

Alina "To a palace, Aurelia."

I yelled "And away from you, Alina!"

She looked down"I've been trying to get back to you this whole time."

Mal "We found the Stag."

I froze. 

Mal " Kirigan's orders to track it came from your drawings. I thought you were showing me the way to you. "
