Graduation

Soon graduation day came, and out of our family that would be graduating would be myself, Edward, Alice, and Jasper. Rosalie and Emmett had graduated the previous year.

Carlisle, Esme, and Riley were going to be there for support. Even though this was probably the thousandth time we graduated from high school, it was a little bittersweet, because there were good moments at Forks High. I was excited!

I sat with the other graduates and waited for the ceremony to start. I turned around and saw my parents sitting in the audience cheering us on along with Chief Swan.   Riley smiled lovingly at me; he was proud of me. I smiled back, and I'm sure my heart would have grown warm and fuzzy.

To my surprise, Jessica Stanley was valedictorian and she was to give a commencement speech to all the graduating seniors.

As she was giving her speech I looked around at all the seniors, and I wondered what they all were going to do after graduation. Some of these kids have known each other since they were in kindergarten, and my family and I were decades older than all of them; we were old enough to have known their great grandparents.

I saw Edward sitting with Bella, and he had his arm around her, stroking her shoulder. Seeing them together warmed my heart, and I was so grateful he finally found someone to make him happy. I knew he wanted to marry her, but she would only accept if he changed her which Edward was hesitant about doing. I understood why he had reservations; the process of going through the change is excruciatingly painful and then one becomes frozen in time like Rosalie would always say. Becoming like us was something Bella wanted to do so she could be with my brother forever, and that was her choice. I could see both sides of the argument and I hoped they both would come to a verdict they agreed on.

One by one, the graduates lined up to get their diploma. When it was my turn to walk across the stage to get my diploma, Carlisle and Esme cheered for me and Riley stood up and applauded. I blew a kiss in his direction, took my diploma, and walked back to my seat. After the rest of my family got their diploma, Bella was taking her turn across the stage, and Charlie stood up and gave her proud applause.

We would go onto the next point in our lives.

Later, we were to have a graduation party at our house; this was a big deal because no one outside of our family and a few trusted people have been to our home.

My siblings and I all joked with Alice that we hoped no one would get hurt at this party. Thankfully that wouldn't happen.
