Silence.

I was met with silence as soon as I opened that damned door. Nobody was there.

It was a bitter sweet moment for me. I was glad that they weren't going to yell at me. Yet, there was a part of that felt unwanted.

Well, at least my eardrums would survive.

Perhaps Ricky and Samantha don't need to know about today's incident, anyways. After all, it's not going to affect them, anyways. It was just a simple misunderstanding.

What I was really worried about was facing my family again. If I am anything like them, I know they're not going to let this go. They're going to pick and prod at me until I give them a valid explanation as to why I freaked out.

The problem was, I didn't have an explanation. I just really don't like being stared at.

Or, perhaps it was the fact that my mate was married.

Yeah, that might have something to do with it.

With a sigh, I decided to explore the forest that surrounded the castle. There was no use in sitting around, waiting for things to change or something to happen.

Needing to change out of my nice attire, I started back for the Royal's Tower.

While on my way there, I evaluated what had happened to me in such a short time:

I have escaped my lying, cheating, 'mate', found out I'd been kidnapped from my royal home, met Ricky, been captured and tortured by rogues who I'm sure will be making an appearance soon, met Samantha, met my family, met my real mate, and found out that my real mate was married.

My life rules.

Sooner than I expected, I came back to the dreaded landing in which nothing but bad things happened to me. It didn't fail to meet my expectations; more bad things awaited me.

Sitting on the posh couches were the Carding couple, my mother and father, my brothers, and Ricky and Samantha. They were drinking tea, laughing, and having a jolly time. Well, that was until they noticed me walking up the stairs.

All heads snapped to me as if on cue. Not wanting to talk, I continued my way upstairs, trying my hardest not to trip due to the extravagant heels that currently cover my feet.

My hand gripped the banister, as I prayed to every single God and Goddess out there that I would not trip and fall down these many stairs. Step by step, I could hear the clacking of my six-inch heel on the hardwood floor.

"Lana..." I heard Ricky's voice say in an almost worried tone.

"Ricky..." I said back in the same tone, still walking up the stairs.

"What are you wearing?" he asked, and by the movement I could hear from over there, he was standing up.

"Do you not remember anything from my earlier days?" I asked with a sigh.

Turning around to face the party, I placed a hand on my hip while the other hung limply at my side.

"Oh," Ricky said, looking me up and down. "You're back to that phase?"

"It's not a phase, Ricky," I snapped back, my eyes narrowed. "It's who I am and if you have plans on continuing to play a role in my life, you better get used to it."

Kicking off my heels, I decided to go barefoot the rest of the way. Jogging up the stairs, I began walking down the hall until I heard Ricky's voice again.

"But, why change back to that now?"

I stood for a few seconds to collect my thoughts before turning to him. Squaring my shoulders, I looked him straight in the eye with a stern face before giving him my answer.
