When he heard of the traveler's death he felt nothing. His expression was blank, he kept on with his life. Demons we're slain, no longer one by one. Twenty by twenty is a more accurate statement.
He recalls the taste of the almond tofu Aether would make. He barely remembers the blonds funny remarks, the stubbornness inside of him. Aether would often climb up to the balcony to see him. The traveler who offered him to help shoulder a portion of his debt.
He remembers Aether as a memory. Years have passed, continuing on with his duties. The Yaksha sat on the railing of Wangshu inn. Gazing over the marsh and Jueyun Karst.
Aether stumbled to the balcony, he wore a smile. Arms open wide he yells, "Xiao! I'm back!"The Adeptus glances at the blond, jumping off the railing. He walks to the traveler. Aether whimpers, Xiao wears no expression of happiness. "You are not back, you are nothing more than an illusion." The Yaksha scoffs, his eyes were teary and voice shaky. And just like that the blond he was so fond of disappears. He walks passed where the traveler once stood.
I miss you, traveler
Xiao didn't speak, he didn't need to. One death is just another to his count. Aether's death however, was the only one that came back to haunt him. Maybe if he confessed to the traveler things would've ended differently.
Deep inside
He reminds himself he is responsible for Aether's death.
