GREY KINGSTON

the meeting to discuss rick's behavior from earlier ended up not going as planned. not for rick though, for everyone else.

to put it lightly, the evening went to shit. the gates were left open on accident by someone who still won't step forward, and a few walkers snuck through. we were all waiting by a fire for rick to show up for the meeting, but he didn't until much later in the night.

he brought a dead walker as proof of his tardiness and also to prove a point—that alexandria really isn't as safe as they think it is.

pete showed up, angry as usual, yelling that we aren't one of them. and thank god we aren't because in the middle of his probably drunk rant, he accidentally sliced reg across the throat with a blade.

deanna lost her husband and spencer lost his dad.

the only way to solve that problem was for rick to kill pete, per deanna's request.

now jessie lost her husband and ron and sam lost their dad.

daryl and aaron returned from their recruit mission. they said they walked right into a trap, got locked in a car and walkers swarmed them. they said there's a threat outside of these walls, they call themselves the wolves, they have w's etched into their foreheads.

one of the good things that came out of the night was tara waking up, healthy and all right.

things are tense here in alexandria, the most tense they have been since we got here. we're on a better path now, but they still don't see it that way.

"grey,"

i gasp awake at the sound of my name.

rick is kneeling beside my bed, motioning for me to come with him somewhere.

"get your shoes and a jacket." he whispers and then leaves my room.

confused and half asleep, i do as he says.

once i meet him downstairs in the living room, we head outside and to the front gates.

it's early in the morning. the air is crisp and the birds are chirping. carl, michonne, and judith are still asleep back at the house.

i close the passengers door and we're off, heading down the street away from alexandria.

rick hasn't said a word about where we're going.

"are you taking me somewhere to kill me?" i joke.

"no," he laughs, adjusting his grip on the steering wheel. "abraham and i came out here 'bout an hour ago to bury pete. we heard some walkers and went to find where it was comin' from. there's a whole quarry filled with them. hundreds, could be a thousand or so."
