Ed’s P.O.V

Christmas is quickly approaching this year and for once I am so content with where my life is that I haven’t had any time to go out and drink with my mates. Pulling out my phone to call my parents I hear the familiar ringing in my ear. “Hello…” came my mother’s voice through the phone.

“Hey mum, it’s Ed.” I heard her voice dramatically increase as she replied.

“Oh Ed, hi how are you and Taylor?” I smiled into the phone.

“Oh mum, we are so good. Its three days out from Christmas. Taylor is freaking out with joy because it just started snowing in New York.” I heard mum gasp.

“Are you guys in New York right now? She’s pregnant Ed get her out of paparazzi zone!” I had to hold the phone away from my ear as her yells came through the phone. “I know mum but do you think that she will listen to me. Taylor is currently sleeping so I thought I would ring you and ask you to call her later and get her to go back to Nashville. So can you?” I beg her through the phone.

“Of course I can Ed, if you text me when she wakes up then I will ring her.” I smiled a large smile and promised that I would before mum stated that they were flying to Nashville for Christmas. “But mum that’s three days away…shouldn’t you just stay in England?” I question with my face frowning.

“Yes Ed, we only have you left since Matt is away this Christmas…” I sighed in relief that no one of my family would be left out. “Oh okay then, I’ll call Andrea after this and let her know that you two will be joining us for Christmas at our place. It will be our last family get together before we move to England.” I heard my mum whispering plans to my dad.

“That sounds wonderful Ed, you go ring Andrea and tell her I’ll ring her later and ask her what I should bring.” I felt myself nodding and I said quietly that it sounded good and after saying goodbye I checked on Taylor and found her still curled up in the bed with the cats either side so I went and called Mama Swift.

Dialling the phone for the second time in a few hours made me wonder if life would always seem so busy, “Hey Ed,” Mama Swift’s warm voice came down the line. I smiled.

“Hey mama, just wanted to ask if it was alright for my folks to join us for dinner this Christmas?”

“Of course it’s okay Ed, they are your parents and you are our son in-law so why wouldn’t it be okay?” I immediately felt dumb, I knew the Swifts were a welcoming family for the simple reason that Taylor was like that and on the RED Tour her parents were exactly the same. “Oh I don’t actually know Mama. I guess I just wanted to make sure.” I heard a laugh come down the line and then heard her talking to Scott in the background. “Well that was sweet of you Ed, but un-necessary. You know that you can bring anyone you like from your family to meet us.” I grinned down the phone and then said, “Thanks Mama Swift. So how is the weather in Nashville?” I asked with a smile.

“Oh it’s not too bad here yet. No snow, is it snowing in New York?” I started to splutter out words.
