My loud sobs ripped through the hallway.

"Mummy?" A little soft voice called with concern.

My 6 year old daughter, Belle, had cute little dirty blonde ringlets like Vinnie and my eyes. My back was pressed against the wall and my head was in my hands. My little girl gently placed her hand on my back and crouched down. She moved her head down slightly to try and see my face.

"Mummy, are you okay?" She asked with a soft tone.

I sniffled slightly and wiped the tears from my eyes. I looked up at her and put on the best smile I could muster.

"Of course precious," I replied and pulled her into my lap and cuddled her.

"I wuv you," She said in an attempt to cheer me up.

"I love you Belle Belle," I added.

She turned her head to look at me and she examined my face.

"Where's daddy?" She questioned.

"I don't know princess," I answered with a sound of defeat.

She frowned and wiped my cheek with her little hand.

"Don't tell daddy, but you're my favourite person in the whole world because daddy scares me sometimes," She whispered and the frown grew a little larger.

The front door creaked open and Belle and I's heads snapped in the direction. I quickly picked Belle up and took her to her room. I placed her gently by her dollhouse and crouched in front of her. I wiped the stray hair from her face and gave her a comforting smile.

"Please stay in here princess, please," I pleaded with a slight crack in my voice.

No one should ever have to tell their child to stay in their room out of fear of them seeing an argument.

"But what about you mummy? What if daddy makes you cry again?" She asks with little tears forming.

"I will be okay princess, just please promise me," I cry.

She sticks her pinkie out and looks at me with a small scared smile.

"I promise," She answers and I loop my pinkie around hers.

I kiss her forehead and make my way to her bedroom door. Before closing it, I see Belle sitting contently playing with her dolls and telling them tales. I smile and close the door.

"Y/N!" I hear Vinnie's harsh angry voice from the lounge room.

I trudge down the hallway to that room. There he is sitting on the couch, assumably drunk. I stand by the tv with my arms crossed and a disappointed look on my face.

"What you bitch," He mumbles, struggling to keep his eyes open.

"Vinnie you have a child and you act like this! Belle shouldn't have to see this shit!" I scream at him.

This wakes him up and he stands to full attention. He paces towards me, attempting to intimidate me.

"Shut up! You're not my mother!" He shouts in my face.

I wipe the slight spit from him off of my face.

"Well what would your mother think of this behaviour," I say back, making sure the venom drips off of every word I say.

I await his answer but am just greeted with a stinging sensation on my cheek. Before I can register what just happened my hand comes up to cradle the side of my face.

"What the hell!" I yell.

"You deserve it you bitch!" He replies.

I slap him too. He grabs his face and looks at me with absolute anger in his eyes.

"You think that's funny?!" He screams.

He picks up the medium sized ball of agate that my nan had given me for my 16th birthday, ten years ago. He examines it before smirking at me. He throws the agate at the tv that was right beside me. The tv shattered at the strong form of rock and the rock dropped to the ground with a thud.

"You should be more careful darl," He said sarcastically. Right now he was scaring me.

"Daddy?" The same little voice as before questioned.

"Belle," He breathed out and a little frown etched onto his face.

"Calm down, you're scaring me and mummy," She said with disappointment in her voice.

"I'm sor-" He begins but gets cut off by his little girl.

"No daddy, say sorry to mummy. You keep hurting her and she's my best friend in the whole dang world," She sassed.

He looked at me with a defeated look and went to reach out for me. I flinched away and he looked completely lost.

"You know what, I think Belle and I are gonna leave for a bit," I coldly said.

Belle grabbed my hand and we made our way back to Vinnie and I's room. I grabbed a suitcase from the top of the closet and began putting some clothes and toiletries in it for me. Once I finished packing some of my stuff, Belle and I did the same in her room. I gave her a little tote bag to put some toys in so that she had something to play with until I hired a moving truck to get the rest.

"You ready bubby?" I asked with a small smile.

She gave me a grin and nodded.

We began walking to the front door, Vinnie was passed out on the couch. Probably sleeping away the alcohol in his system. I walked over to the piece of agate that sat on the floor. I picked it up and held it tight to my chest. I placed it in my bag and we kept walking out the door.

As I buckled Belle up she asked me, "Where are we staying mummy?"

"What about nanny Maria's and poppy Nate's house?" I asked with a smile.

Even though Vinnie and I weren't doing good, Maria and Nate always made sure to check if Belle and I were okay. I never wanted them to worry, so I fabricated the truth. But now, I was done, completely and utterly done with not talking about it. Belle and I sang to the songs from tangled and beauty and the beast as we drove. I was now ready to start a new life with my little Belle in a place that was safe and positive for the both of us.
