"Belle baby, it's time to go to school!"

I yell out to my little girl while finishing packing her lunch. I hear her little footsteps descending down the hallway. It had been a year since we left Vinnie. We stayed at Maria and Nate's for a few months until I found a place of our own. Belle tried to reach out to her dad to still see him because he was her dad after all and he did treat her well. But he never responded, even when Nate and Maria argued with him about seeing his daughter he would still brush it off. However, us two girls were quite happy the way we were.

"I'm ready mummy!" She cheers.

I look up at her and she wears a mischievous grin, her school uniform and a pink ballerina tutu. I giggle at her cute appearance and click my tongue.

"Princess you can't wear your tutu to school," I say and walk over to her.

I crouch down and brush her wild hair out of her face. She sighs a defeated sigh and pulls the tutu down. I put her lunchbox in her school bag and we go jump in the car. As usual, we blast Disney songs and scream out all the words. Laughing and giggling together.

"Okay princess, we're here," I say, slightly upset that I have to leave my little bestie behind.

I get out of the car and unbuckle her booster seat.

"Can we see nanny Maria and poppy Nate this afternoon?" She asks with a hopeful tone.

"Of course baby," I answer and give her a hug.

"Bye mummy, I love you!" She shouts as she begins walking into the school gate.

"Bye baby, I love you too," I respond and get back in the car.

After dropping off Belle, I would usually pick up any essentials we needed to stock up on before heading home and tidying up. I skimmed through each aisle checking for anything we needed on my shopping list.

"Vinnie did you pick up the baby formula?," A feminine voice asked.

My head snapped up and at the other end of the aisle was none other than my ex boyfriend. He nodded at the girls question and I then assessed the woman next to him. She was quite pretty and seemed really sweet. But then again, that's what I looked like before everything turned to shit. The woman was pushing a plain, expensive stroller and in that stroller was a little newborn baby. I gasped and dropped the container of kids vitamins out of shock. Vinnie and the lady looked over at me and I quickly bent down, put the vitamins back and made a beeline for the cash registers. That asshole has time for a new family but not enough time for his firstborn? What the flying fuck?
I heard heavy footsteps following close behind me.

That was until they stopped abruptly and that was because of a familiar voice, "Hey Vin!" Reggie greeted his older brother.

The two didn't really get along since the whole situation a year ago. While Vinnie stopped to talk to his brother. Reggie gave a simple smile in my direction. He had stopped Vinnie on purpose. I mouthed a quick thank you and offered a smile to Reggie before checking out at the self checkouts.

I had just picked Belle up from school and we were currently at the Hacker residence.

"Nanny, can I go play with Poncho?" Belle asked sweetly.

She absolutely adored animals and it made my heart melt at how gentle she was with them. It sucks that such a sweet girl had such an asshole of a father.

"Of course Belle Belle, you don't have to ask," Maria answered, kissing her granddaughters cheek.

Belle skipped outside where Poncho was currently laying, soaking up the afternoon sun.

"How have you been?" Maria asks genuinely.

She reaches out for my hands and holds them comfortingly.

"I've honestly been good. I've been focused on my job and having fun looking after my little one. I even now have time to do things for myself, like shopping and getting my hair and nails done," I respond, slowly drifting off and imagining all the things that make me happy.

"That's great dear," She cheers with happiness and encouragement.

We continue talking about what's been going on in our lives, when we hear a knock on the door.

I began to stand up to answer the door when Maria stops me, "I'll get it dear, you relax," She smiles.

I sit back down and stare out the back door to Belle cuddling up next to Poncho on the deck.

"Hello son," Maria says, sounding tense.

Shit! It's Vinnie.

I hear their footsteps near and soon Vinnie rounds the corner.

"Y/N can we talk?" He pleads with desperation.

"Why?" I question.

"Please."

"Fine," I scoff.

He leads me to the hallway so we could talk more privately. He stares at me intently, his eyes focus on my features and a smile forms on his lips.

"Don't look at me like that," I chastise and cross my arms over my chest in annoyance.

"Uh sorry," He mumbles, scratching the back of his neck. "Look, you weren't meant to see that earlier."

"What? You with your new family?" I scoff. "I get it Vinnie, it's fine to move on and all but even though Belle was fine with leaving she still wanted to at least see her dad. You ignored her calls and the messages she sent from my phone. She just wanted a dad Vinnie and here you are playing happy families with a new child."

"Y/-"

"No, if you're going to apologise I accept it but please do not treat your new family the way you treated Belle and I," I finished.

"I am truly sorry, you and Belle deserve the world and more. Can I please be in her life? I'll be good, I promise," He pleads.

"I don't know, ask Belle," I reply nonchalantly.

He nods and we make our way to the deck to talk to Belle.

"Hi daddy," She says carefree.

"Hi baby," He responds. "I was wondering if you wanted to hangout with dad more? We can stay at nanny's and poppy's together and for a day and then mummy can pick you up?" He asks her softly.

"Well daddy, you've been a bit of a meany lately. You haven't answered my calls. Buuutttt," She sings out adding a dramatic pause. "As long as you don't date mummy again, sure. Because mummy is too nice and pretty to be treated badly," Belle finishes innocently.

I giggle at her answer, that's my girl.

"Sounds good baby," Vinnie responds.

She hugs him and he hugs back. He looks up at me and mouths a quick thank you. I give him a nod, glad my baby girl gets to spend time with her dad, which is something I simply never got.
