It's evening and Nini finds herself laying on the couch in an oversized hoodie and a pair of pajama shorts. Her hair has been since pulled out of her braids from earlier, wet curls hanging down leaving trails of water down the fabric she's grateful is on the thicker side.

Her moms aren't home so she's alone for the next while, Nanay Dana is still at the nursing home and Mama Carol is out with her work friends. She supposed she's just grateful to Aspen's family for having her stay for dinner. As much as she absolutely hates to impose, they never make her feel like she is.

Leftovers heated in the microwave are far less appetizing than a home cooked meal, even if she's not a particularly picky eater. She'd never had that luxury to be one. She knows even now that things were better than when she was little, but it wasn't like they spent frivolously or could afford to.

As she's about to turn the television on, she hears her phone buzzing, and of course it's exactly who she expected it to be. Who else after he'd said he would text her later that night.

It's only a few minutes later that she's grabbing her skateboard and making her way out towards the skate park. It was pretty close to both of their houses, so while they weren't exactly neighbors, the neighborhood was close enough they'd always been able to meet in the middle.
