It had been fifteen minutes since he'd left Marinette, and a look over could inform him that she was looking a little worried. As to not lead Alya to Marinette's whereabouts he looked all around the room before turning his attention back to her. He needed to swap and fast.

"Alya, I just need to use the restroom. Order yourself another drink and I'll be back shortly."

He rushed towards the gents again, taking another menu from the same waiter he'd passed earlier, blocking his face from Marinette's view. Opening the restroom door he called out to see if anyone else was in there. The lack of response encouraged Adrien to lock the main door before checking under each cubicle.

Empty.

"Claws in," Adrien felt the transformation fade and positioned his hands ready to catch Plagg. The small black kwami fell onto Adrien's palms and looked at Adrien with scrunched up eyes.

"Kid, this isn't going to work. You can't keep this up all night. What are you going to tell Pigtails?"

Adrien pulled out his phone and began to scroll, finding his notes app. Last night he'd created a list of possible excuses he could use with Marinette and with Alya, he just needed to make sure he used the right excuse with the right lady.

Checking himself out in the mirror, he tweaked his hair and unlocked the door ready to get back to Marinette. Checking his phone again he found his first excuse of the night.

"I'm so sorry, Marinette. I got cornered by some fangirls outside the toilets."

She smiled up at him, without a hint of annoyance or anger.

"Don't worry about it, it was bound to happen. I mean you are you and you look hot," her face turned red and her eyes widened, "I mean, do you feel hot? It feels quite warm here."

Adrien stared at Marinette unsure which section of the conversation he should respond to. Was he happy she thought he looked hot? Or did she mean the temperature of the restaurant? It seemed quite normal, maybe Marinette was under a heater and he could get them moved to make her feel better? He didn't want her remembering how much she sweat on a date with him, it would make him seem -

"Ouch!" Adrien's knee shot up and hit the underneath of the table causing the cutlery to clang against each other. He looked over to Marinette, who surprisingly, had made her eyes go even wider.

"Oh my God, I'm so sorry Adrien. I was trying to stroke your legs, I mean trying to cross my legs." She did something again causing him to be kicked in the shin. A repeat of his knee hitting the table echoed through the restaurant making those who were sitting close look over.

Marinette groaned and covered her eyes with her hands. He needed to make her feel better, as hopefully soon to be boyfriend he needed to make sure this night was perfect for her. No hiding behind her hands. He stretched out aiming to place a comforting hand on her arm, only to shock her with the touch making her jump in her seat and fling her arms out.

The glass of water currently in front of her unfortunately was collateral damage, flying across the table and landed on the edge on his side. He watched as the river of ice cold beverage ran off the edge of the table and into his lap. It took him a good four seconds to comprehend what was happening.

Water.

Water river.

Ice cold water river.

Ice cold water river in his lap.

A high pitched squeak left his mouth and he shot up to a standing position, shaking the table again causing the nearby couples to tut and groan at the 'youngsters' behaviour.
