As an author, you expose your whole self to the world

As an author, you expose your whole self to the world.
You lay your unclothed soul completely bare to all who read your work.
You sacrifice your every thought, your every emotion...your everything.
As I prepare to become an independently published author once again, nothing is truer.

As an indie, we don't have the backing of a publishing house, we don't have their large safety net, and let me tell you, it's pretty darn lonely and terrifying at times.

It was for that very reason, that I pulled all of my books from Amazon etc, many years ago...a decision that wasn't taken lightly, I can assure you.

After trying my best, and to be brutally honest, I just wasn't prepared or emotionally ready...I came to the conclusion that being a clueless indie, just wasn't for me.

Now five years on, I feel ready.
More prepared to bare my writerly self to the world once again.

During my most vulnerable time of being K B Mallion, my fabulous photographer and I, we wanted to express how exposed us writers often do feel, and capture it within a single shot.

For me personally, I wanted to capture how we bare our all every single time we release a book.
How so very proud we are of our books, yet equally, how utterly terrified we feel at the same exciting and uncertain time.

Will people like it?
Will they read it to the end?
Will they want more of my words?

During that vulnerability, I had written four books... and yet, I still felt completely out of my depth.

Using my own covers to cover me, beautifully encompassed everything that I was trying to say at that particular time...and still to this day, it feels just as relevant as it did back then.

It's stating that I am K B Mallion. That I am an author. That it's who I am.
I am nothing more, nothing less......
........bare and exposed to the world.
