In her six years at D.C.A, no one had ever crossed paths with Grace Williams. It was one of the perks of being the daughter of one of the richest senators A.K.A the biggest donor of the school.
Everyone knew not to mess with her. The last confrontation anyone had ever had was in SS1 when a prefect tried to punish her for defaulting the school's dressing code, simply because she added a little bit of "spice" to her hairdo. Long story short, that senior had her prefectship badge stripped off her. Since then, no senior student made an effort to ever confront her and her mates dared not to try any funny business with her.
Even teachers knew not to get in her way. They barely punished her, all except Mr Thomas who metted out necessary measures of discipline irrespective of who you were. The others seemed to be afraid of her, always giving her preferential treatment in terms of grades even though the extra effort was unnecessary as she was one of the top students in her class.
No one could really comprehend the reason for her invincibility. It couldn't just be wealth, because even though D'champions academy wasn't as expensive as some of the top schools in the state, it wasn't exactly affordable either. Most kids that attended the school had parents that were above average and well to do, but she always knew she had an edge over most of the population in terms of financial status.
In brilliance however, she easily topped the class, only losing the first position to Temi- the class nerd- two times since their jss1.
She was also very beautiful, with bright skin, the color of caramel, full cheek bones, thick lashes and plump lips, she always made it to the top 5 of the "sets finest girls" category of the ridiculous list that Samuel, the class clown and some other weird boys in her set liked to compile every term.
She was a perfect combination of beauty, brains and sass. It made her stuck up and unapproachable and she liked it!
Until last week.
Was it Ifeyinwa or Ifunnaya...she wasn't sure, but the new girl had a lot of guts though, interrupting her business like that and standing up to the one person no other person in the whole of SS3 A, B and C could stand up to.
So she was going to pay.
Grace scanned around her seat which was in the middle of the two columns which SS1 girls occupied. It was one of those morning assembly days when she decided to do her job as a prefect. Sitting on the blue chair with arms folded and legs crossed, she scanned the students under her care daring one of them to make even the slightest noise.
Which of course they didn't.
She heard murmurings from the neighboring columns occupied by SS2 girls, which were coordinated by female sports and punctuality prefect. She turned to her front. As the social prefect, her assistant supposed to coordinate SS1 class with her but was not around. Not that she minded though as she was clearly capable enough to handle the class on her own.
The principal was making some announcements as usual, but she zoned out and went back to her thoughts on how to deal with the new girl when she felt cold hands tapping on her right arm.
Snapping her head to look at the perpetrator, she came face to face with a very dark girl who wore thick green glasses. Her green braces could be seen clearly from the sickly sweet smile she displayed, happy to have received the attention she was yearning for.
