Thank you so so much for your likes and comments ❣️❣️For Ifechi it was a season of peace. With everyone occupied with external exam preparations, her arch nemesis and co seemed to be off her back.
She wished a certain person would be off her back too.
Damien remain persistent, trying to be as sweet and charming as he had been when they first met- texting her everyday, buying her 'little' gifts and "mistakenly bumping" into her during free periods. She'd lost count of how many gifts she'd rejected and how many WhatsApp conversations she'd killed just to make him lose interest, couldn't he take a hint?
She hissed underneath her breath when the last junior student came to drop off his latest gift, how the heck did he know she'd recently been craving oreo cookies?
She read the note on the package with a half-smile, half-cringe.
Sweet as the cream, lovely as the cookie dough, this is for being gorgeous and amazing, I hope you accept this one, and even if you don't, I'll keep trying.
She tore off the paper and squeezed it in her hands, cursing at the tiny butterflies that had the guts to form as she imagined his voice saying those sweet nonsense to her.
"Here take it" she shoved the cookies at the junior student.
"Senior?" The boy looked surprised, astonished even, but Ifechi didn't repeat herself, only continued her intense solving of quadratic equations. Usually she'd tell his messengers to return the gifts to him clearly stating her refusal, but this time she didn't even have the strength, the boy could as well keep it.
The junior student upon seeing her rejection slowly backed away with the goodies, it was his luck afterall, he just hoped that the older boy wouldn't find out sooner or later.
Ifechi sighed when he'd left. Despite her resistance, a part of her loved the affection and attention Damien was giving her, but she was smarter now and no amount of "belly butterflies" would make her fall for his pranks again.
"Einstein!" Someone hailed. Ifechi smiled as she recognised his voice before looking up.
Pedro took the empty seat beside her, it was break time and the chairs around her were empty.
Replacing Damien in Ifechi's heart was P.G, but contrary to what you'd think, no she was falling for him, she was smarter than that now.
But Pedro was cheerful and easygoing, or at least he was with her now. She subconsciously compared him to her ex crush every now and then. Though Damien was more attractive and charming, P.G had this calm vibes that made him seem mysterious and alluring, he could also be charming when he wanted to. She also felt more comfortable with him than she ever did with Damien, whom she felt subpar whenever she was amidst his crowd.
The fact that P.G seemed unapproachable to rest of their class and only acted this way around her made her feel special, but again, she was veryyy careful not to make the same mistake twice. As far as Ifechi was concerned, Pedro didn't like her, she chided herself not to mistake his niceness for romantic inclinations.
"Watchu reading?" He said dragging his seat closer to peer into her book.
"Just having some refreshers" she shrugged.
"Hmm...so like this now you want to oppress me?" He said earning a few giggles from her.
"Ah ah how na"
