Callum POV

As I woke up I had a strange feeling that I was in danger. I slowly sat up and groaned before looking around. I was expecting to see Rayla next to me, smiling at the fact that I was awake.

But instead I was met with the cold, stone walls of a prison cell and then it all came back to me; Rayla and Ethari bickering, me and Runaan coming up with the plan, running out of the house and zapping all the intruders, then catching their leader's conversation with Anton, hearing a twig snap behind me, turning around and then....black.

I had been taken captive! My mind started racing with all of the what ifs. What were they going to do to me? Were they going to torture me? Were they going to kill me?!

Then I heard the creaking of the metal door opening and the face of the man who attacked me replaced it. He slowly stepped inside and I got a better look at him.

He was quite a buff guy with tattoos on his arms. Definitely a bounty hunter by the looks of it. He wore old, dirty and dusty clothes that were made for warm days considering how thin they were. And he was around twice the size of me but from the looks of it I could tell that he wasn't a dark mage.

He was carrying a plate with some very unappetising looking food. Then he dropped it on the floor in front of meand said "Eat up." With no emotion in his voice at all. I just stared him down.

Finally, he broke and sighed "You'll need your strength for tomorrow." He told me. I still didn't even think of touching that disgusting food "I'm on your side." He lied (I think).

"Sure you are. Would someone who was on my side knock me unconscious? And hand me straight over to the enemy?" I asked annoyed "Look I had to." "Oh really?" "You don't understand. It wasn't just me. There was someone else. An assassin who was going to kill you right on the spot. I knocked you out so you wouldn't be hit by a poisoned arrow." He answered.

"If you really are on my side. Then tell me who these guys are." I commanded him "They are elite dark mages. Followers of Lord Viren-" "Ex-Lord Viren." I interrupted him "Right. They want to eliminate the elf and human who killed him." The bounty hunter finished.

"Ok, but if you're on our side then why am I still tied up? And why couldn't you just say so? Instead of knocking me out cold." I spat at him "Would you have listened? And it would have been too late." He argued back.

"Ok, ok. I believe you. But why are you with the bad guys?" I asked "Because they recruited me. I'm a bounty hunter." I knew it! "They came to me, told me their plan and asked if I wanted in. But the thing is I've always been loyal to you and I didn't care when I heard you had joined forces with an elf. I only came with them so I could stop them. And there was another who joined for the same reason." "Really? Is he here? Why isn't he with you you?" "Because they were onto him. And you know that magical barrier you guys had to protect you? *I nodded* Well when the time came for us to break through that barrier. Out of all the dark mages they could've picked to break through the barrier they picked him and only him. But he wasn't that strong and so when he broke it the dark magic sucked all of his life force out of him...he died. And they didn't even give a damn." He said solemnly.

"That's....terrible....I'm so sorry." I sympathised, horrified at what these people did "I can't believe anyone would do something like that." "Yeah, neither can I. But, y'know even though he was a dark mage he still acted like a human and was." He agreed before getting up and heading to the metal door.

"Hey! Wait! Where are you going?" I asked him "I was sent here to bring you your food and it doesn't take this long. If I stay here any longer then they'll get suspicious and I can't deal with them watching my every move then I won't be able to get you out.".

"Okay but do you really expect me to eat that?" I asked with disgust "Oh yeah that, I forgot, they hid this magic potion thingy in there that will make you tell the truth for when they interrogate you. Don't. Eat. It." He told me before turning to leave.

"Wait! But I don't know your name!" "Tyson." Tyson told me then walked out and shut the door. "Hmm I wonder what Rayla's doing right now. I hope she's alright." I monologued.

"Where did Callum go!" Rayla shouted. They were all taking turns to watch Callum so they didn't lose sight of him. "What?!" Exclaimed Ethari, rushing over to Rayla "What do you mean where did Callum go?!".

"I've lost sight of him I can't see him anywhere." She elaborated "Well he can't have just disappeared." Said Runaan, trying and failing to get up off the couch "Runaan!" Ethari exclaimed, running over to help his husband.

He helped Runaan walk over to the window and Rayla's eyes suddenly filled with worry "Are you're okay?" She asked and he rolled his eyes "Yes Rayla. I'm fine and pregnant. Now, we have to find Callum." Runaan said and they all searched (with their eyes) frantically for Callum.

Then Rayla spotted something out of the corner of her eye and when she turned she saw her fiance tied up and being dragged away by, what looked like a bounty hunter and an assassin.

"Callum!!" Rayla called out "What?! Where?!" Ethari shouted-asked. "Right there but he's been captured." "Oh no." "Well we have to save him." Said Ethari.

"Right, but we'll need a plan." Rayla said "But how could we even find him? We don't even know where they took him." Ethari reminded her "But we do know which direction they were going in." Rayla smirked. Runaan and Ethari exchanged knowing looks.
