Sunset

6 4 1

As sorrow surrounds you with its arms of clay,
Eyes fading into the dark of night,
I wish to stand; be with you each day,
To hold a torch- to bring back your light.

Your clear tears fall heavy like a summer storm,
I see your broken, burden bound heart,
Wish to embrace you; make you feel warm,
To stop you from crumbling apart.

You are the rose of my heart,
Who turns old stone into gold,
"Life is a path we must chart,"
Is what I was always told.

I know of your wounds from your new crown of thorns,
Seemingly endless puncturing pain,
I will hold you; lift you through your mornes,
Shatter your new soul capturing chain.

Whether hard time or easy I do not care,
Dear, with you I will forever stand,
This pain is something we both will bear,
Always will hold your sweet, tender hand.

You are a joy in my soul,
Like a sunset in the sky,
Always very beautiful,
Leave this world with me and fly.
