November 11, 1941
Today the HMAS Sydney sailed from Freemantle to escort the Troop ship Zealandia to Sunda Strait. This is a very important job, as we were protecting troop movements. All of us Seaman boys felt very grownup having been given this significant duty.
November 20, 1941
We have successfully escorted the Troop ship to Sunda Strait and are on our way home. As I write this, I spot a Dutch Merchant ship on the horizon. One of our friends.
