❝ I walked through the door with you, the air was cold. But something about it felt like home somehow. And I, left my scarf there at your sister's house. And you've still got it in your drawer even now... ❞

"Would you relax, I'm like, right outside," I grumbled into the phone as I opened my car door and stepped outside, letting the cold air hit me like a train.  Koa would make fun of my choice apparel, a long black coat with a soft cream faux fur outlining and keeping me cozy.  Despite the coat, I still liked added warmth, so I swung a deep red scarf over my neck, still holding the phone close to my ear.  "Open the front door, I've brought some wine like you suggested," I said before hanging up, tucking the bottle of wine under my armpit.

Koa was my best friend since elementary school, so naturally, we supported each other in every aspect we could.  We grew into and out of the odd jobs phase together, I hated men while she was always in serious relationships with the wrong boys... part of why my hatred for men started so early on.  She wanted to be a makeup artist for movie productions, and I wanted to star in as many as I could.  Sometimes I overwhelmed myself with auditions, but it had proven worth it.

When I saw her open the front door, I instantly felt so much better.  I couldn't lie, the house was beautiful, so whoever this dude was that she was dating now must've been making big bucks.

"Hey, baby!" I smiled.  "Wow," I stopped to marvel at the autumn coloured trees in the front yard.  "I've got to get some of these for my yard."

Koa's grin was massive.  "I know.  This place is so cute," she giggled as I stepped into the house.  "Cute outfit."

"You better not be being sarcastic... I am dressing."

Koa's eyes trailed to the bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon Red Wine under my arm.  "Oh, that's weird.  Someone else brought the exact same bottle."

"What?  Who?" I furrowed my brows, tapping my french nails on it as I stared at it some more.  "I thought I grabbed the last one."

I didn't think much of it at the time.

"Apparently not.  Jacob's friend came with one," Koa said, taking it from me.  "Come on, take your coat off, I'll introduce you to everyone."  With that, I was whisked away, from person to person, only allowed to smile and say a quick hello before I was met with the next person, it seemed.  I was envious of the way Koa effortlessly greeted everyone like she knew them all on a personal level.  And I knew she did, nothing about that woman was fake at all.

Finally getting to meet the infamous Jacob, I could see why Koa had fallen head over heels for him.  He wasn't really my type, but he was funny and her eyes absolutely lit up when he spoke.
