Red Son was half believing that he was actually training to be a hero. The other half's jaw dropped in utter disbelief.
"First lesson!" Mei said. "Fighting is important, but you have to have people skills! Or, well, not threaten them."
"Then, how will they listen?" Red Son asked.
Mei hummed. "Well, think of what you did at your food stand! You were nice at first! Explaining that there wasn't a mistake until he screamed at you! That's when you lost your cool!"
"How did you know about-"
Mei then shushed him. "Just act like that! If they scream at you, and I mean AT you, not screaming in terror, don't scream back! It could mean they're scared!" She explained.
Red Son sighed. "So, just keep my temper somewhat in check?"
"Well, you'll never be able to-"
"I SAID SOMEWHAT IN CHECK!" Red Son suddenly screamed, his hair bursting into flames before he calmed down. "Sorry."
Mei just giggled. "No problem. But we'll work on that! Now onto actually saving people!" She then suddenly got on her bike. "Here! Hang on!"
Red Son watched her drive off, tilting his head. But that's when, a few minutes later, he saw Mei...on top of a ledge?!
Mei waved from up high. "Okay! Catch me! I'm gonna jump!"
"WHAT?!" Red Son screeched. Not so much about the 'catch me' part. Of course he was going too, but she was putting herself in danger! Willingly! She could be dying!
Mei then leapt off, looking at her hand as she fell through the air.
Red Son panicked for a moment before launching himself into the air a fire blast. He landed against the mountain wall before teleporting over to Mei, scooping her into his arms. He then teleported again and landed.
Mei clapped. "Woo! Great job, Red Son!"
"You're insane!" Red Son exclaimed. "You could've killed yourself!"
"Psh, nah. I would've been fine." Mei said. "I once got hit in the head with MK's staff and survived. And that thing is HEAVY."
"17,550 pounds to be precise." Red Son suddenly said. "And magic. It belonged to Yu The Great."
Mei blinked as she got out of his arms. "Yu The Who?"
Red Son pushed his glasses up. "Yu The Great. He was a legendary emperor who saved China from floods in The Xia Dynasty."
Mei blinked. "Huh. I thought it was just a very heavy pillar that the Monkey King stole from my 1,000 times great uncle."
Red Son chuckled. "My father told me it was not so much stealing and more harassing him for it."
Mei laughed. "Hard to believe he's a hero sometimes! Speaking of, next hero lesson!" She cried, suddenly appearing right behind Red Son. "Outfit!"
Red Son tilted his head. "Outfit?"
"Yeah! You're gonna need something that's powerful and heroic looking!"
Red Son narrowed his eyes. "You're telling me the one with glasses is heroic and powerful?"
Mei blinked again. "Okay. Fair. Then, I guess just powerful! Something that's really YOU." She then got close to his face. "What makes Red Son? What makes him tick?"
Red Son lightly shoved Mei away. "Personal space, Mei."
"HA! No such thing." Mei said with an evil grin.
Red Son backed up. "I don't think I wanna be a hero anymore-"
Mei wrapped her arms tightly around him. "TOO LATE NOW, NEW BESTIE!" She exclaimed.
Red Son tried to escape Mei's tight hug, but it was impossible. Her grip was ironclad. He sighed, and just gave in...he did eventually smirk. Mei was definitely something.
Meanwhile...
The Bodhisattva, Lingji breathed heavily before falling against the temple walls. He clutched his chest, which was bleeding. The blood spread onto his palm, and he looked up at his attacker. But that's when a golden trident stabbed into his shoulder! Lingji screamed in pain, his voice echoing.
His attacker, a black demon with short green hair, and golden armor laughed evilly. "Not so powerful without your staff, huh?"
Lingji tried to get up before being kicked in the face, tumbling onto the floor. "Y...You'll never-"
"Get away with this, yatta, yatta. I know the whole schibang." The Yellow Wind Demon said, snapping his fingers into a point, which was directed at Lingji.
Lingji growled. "Y-You have the staff, Feng. W-Why do you remain?"
Feng clutched the Dragon Staff, looking at the bronze dragon at the top. He just laughed before strapping the staff to his back. "Well, Lingji...I'm gonna ask you a little question. What makes the dragon inside this staff obey you?"
"W-What?"
Feng flicked his head. "Are you deaf? I asked what makes the dragon obey you?"
Lingji growled. "It's out of respect! And I doubt it would listen to you!"
Feng just chuckled. "We'll see about that." He said before walking out of the temple and looking at the bright blue sky.
That's when wind surrounded the demon, lifting him higher and higher into the air. He took out the staff, humming. "Well, little dragon...let's see what makes you listen."
He then got an idea and cackled. "How about forcing you to kill another dragon?" He then waited for a response before remembering the Dragon Staff couldn't make a facial expression. Or speak for that matter. Feng facepalmed before shrugging. "Might as well do it anyway."
He then flew higher and higher into the air before flying off east. He had a strong feeling someone very special would be there.
After an hour or so of flying, he made it to a city. Megalopolis...home of The Monkie Kid.
