I grabbed my leather bag and cast the strap on my shoulder then I headed down the latter from the loft . I gathered the chickens and other animals on the farm and loaded the wagon. I head steady down the path .

"Hi there little lady! Can you show me the way to Abra village?! " said a man with Pitette armor and a Palomino pony

"Yes sir I'm going there myself would you care to join me on my journey? " I Awnsered politely

he had smiled at me and then nodded. We traveled for miles in an awkward silence before one of us spoke.

"So um sir what brings you to Abra village? " I asked uncomfortable with the silence

"Business and you? " he replied

"Um same here" I answer

"So you're a knight? " I said pushing the conversation

"Yes I am" he said making it difficult to find anything else to talk about

I sighed and settled with silence as we travel down the wooded winding road. It was a two day journey. One day to get half way to the village and the other to finally reach the destination. Of course it could be done in one night but it was simply too tiresome.

As the sun sets we pulled over off the side of the trail and begin to rest. I take the grain and hay then feed the livestock that I'd soon sell. It was only then when I had realized that I had forgotten my own meals. There was nothing left from the pantry not after the flames destroyed what little was inside. Having not much choice I sipped water that I had stored for the trip to settle my empty stomach. The knight pulled out some soft bread, crisp sweet apples and some dehydrated meat. He ate contently next to the warm golden flames of the campfire. My stomach couldn't but help to growl at the sight of the appetizing food.

I sit down and pull my knees close to my chest to bare the pain of hunger. The knight looks at me and split his apple then hands me a slice.

"I see rations slipped your mind when preparing for travel " he said as he sets the apple slice on a handkerchief and set it next to me

I nod and untuck myself then look at the apple a bit edgy as to if he had poisoned it.

"It's alright I'm being chivalrous it's what a knight vows to" he said

I take the apple and eat it

"I know what chivalry is I also took that vow myself as I to am a knight" I said with pride

"But I'm grateful for your kindness" I add as a 'thank you'

He bursts out into uncontrollable laughter and wiped tears from his eyes as he wheezes. I of course took offence and gave him a glare

"What's so funny?! " I asked upset

"You hahaha a girl as a knight! " he said shaking his head and giggling

I scoff in frustration and faced away from him

"Come on you have to be realistic. Women are good for having kids and house chores and that's it. Women are way too weak to be a knight" he tried to reason with me but only upset me more

"Believe what you wish but I am too a knight despite my gender, as true strength resides in the spirit, any knight knows that " I replied with a bitter tone

He gives a blank stare as he's unsure how to respond. I put out the fire and it hissed in the retaliation, leaving the both of us with it's lightly glowing embers and the soft moonlight.

"Good night, sir" I say with venom before I turned to go to sleep

I hear a sigh come from behind me and I knew he regretted his words now that my frustration was clear.

"G'night, miss" he said softly as he rolled on his side to sleep

I lay down and find sleep difficult to grasp as my mind refused to rest, Consistently reliving the fire. Their screams ringing in my ears, the smell of smoke and Burnt flesh remains in my nose, churning my stomach.

Soft chattering sounds come from the tall grass behind me and catch my attention.
