I attempted to stretch my back but had to stop when I felt pain radiate from my shoulder blades to my neck.

Damn!

Those off-campers got me good.

Hindi ko alam kung aksidente ba talaga ang pagkakasipa ng bola diretso sa likod ko kahapon o isa na naman ito sa maduduming taktika nila. They play dirty!

It's no surprise that, last week, Theo simply walked off the field of play and never returned. There was a fight, and my best friend emerged victorious and unscathed. That should teach them not to mess with Theo Andreyev again.

When the door to the classroom I'm in opened without warning, Orianna was standing there with an ice pop in her mouth and surprise in her eyes. I'm sure that was more due to her surprise at seeing me here than to my shirtless state. After all, she is Orianna. My state of undress doesn't bother her at all. Ako na lang minsan ang naiilang.

I turned my back to her and went back to stretching and testing the range of my movements to see how much pain I could tolerate and still play. I intend to annihilate those cheaters on the field.

Nagsara ang pinto at naramdaman ko ang papalapit na hakbang ni Orianna. Maya-maya ay nasa harapan ko na siya at hinihila ang upuan sa katapat kong desk. Naupo siya roon at tahimik na pinanood ang ginagawa ko.

"Umuwi na ba ang Mommy?" I asked as I go through the motions of easing the tension in my body through stretching.

Intramurals Week na at dalawang magkasunod na linggo kaming hindi nakauwi sa compound ng pamilya ko. Kaya si Mommy na lang ang nagsabing bibisita sa amin.

Nagkataon din na ngayong araw ang huling session nina Mommy at Orie kay Nurse Carmen. Pumayag si Mommy na siya ang tumayong guardian ni Orianna at siyang dumadalo sa serye ng panayam kay Nurse Carmen tungkol sa sexual health education.

I don't really know the details of those talks and I don't ask pero malaki ang improvement ni Orie sa klase ni Prof. Priest. She no longer asks unusual questions in the open forum, and she appears to have acquired some real understanding of sex, pleasure, and human relationships. Just enough to know not to ask questions that would make Eno and his petty gang burst out laughing.

I should not have been so hostile of Theo's advice about asking someone to teach her. My fear that she might lose the core of her personality that makes her distinctly Kiska was unfounded. I could have saved her a lot of grief if I had given in sooner.

It is no surprise that Nurse Benjamin Cruz was the Florentine SHE teacher. He knows what he's doing and understands what Orianna needs. Thank God for that.

Inalis niya ang ice pop mula sa bibig at sumagot, "Si Tita Leine ang pumunta."

Nahinto ako sa aking ginagawa at kuno and noo siyang tinitigan. "Tita Leine?"

Tumango siya.

"Tita Madeline?" ulit ko pa at muli naman siyang tumango. "Why?!" hindi ko mapigilang ibulalas.

Kumibit-balikat lang siya muna bago kumagat sa ice pop niya. Ako ang nangingilo habang pinapanood siya.

"Busy yata ang Mommy mo," sagot niya. "Kaya si Tita Leine ang pumunta."
