Chapter 28

Ryujin's PoV

"We're here!" I announced

It's already 10:23 pm but Taeoh is still wide awake. He happily sat up properly and waited for me to get him out of the seat. Yeji waited for us and she was smiling when we got out.

"Why?" I asked as I carried Taeoh on my arms

"Being his guardian suits you more than being a troublemaker," She replied as she opened the door

Should I be happy? Is that a compliment? Is she seeing the changes? Dumb me. It's not like she's gonna go back to me if she sees that I've changed. I mean, she's happy with Yeonjun already.

"Yeji?" Mrs. Hwang said when she saw Yeji

Yeji pointed at us and Mrs. Hwang's smile grew even wider. I brought Taeoh down and Mrs. Hwang reached her hands out, asking for a hug. Taeoh immediately ran to her. Mrs. Hwang then showed Taeoh to the rest of the Hwangs.

"You didn't tell me they've already met your son," Yeji said

"Yeah. Jinhwan-oppa brought him here. Heejin asked him to bring him here and yeah. The rest is history," I replied

"Jinhwan?" She asked

"Uhm... Taeoh's biological dad. Due to some unfortunate events, he left Taeoh under my care," I said and she nodded

I'm happy she didn't ask for anything more than that. I'm not sure I can talk about Jinhwan-oppa without breaking down. He died. He died fighting in that club. He tried to get out but he didn't succeed.

"Babe!" A familiar voice called

I turned around to welcome her with open arms. I just felt Yeji's stares on us.

"You didn't tell me you're coming over," She said as she hugged my waist

When we pulled away, she didn't remove her hands from my waist. She was just giving me puppy eyes, asking me to put my hands on her back. I mentally rolled my eyes and I did what I was expected to do.

"Yeah. Taeoh hasn't seen Mr. and Mrs. Hwang for a while," I replied as I pecked a kiss on her cheek

When I faced her, she was grinning at me. I hate Heejin. I swear. If she just didn't dare me to pretend as her girlfriend for 5 days, I wouldn't do this.

"Taeoh! Come here!" Heejin called Taeoh and Taeoh came to hug her

Heejin carried him but not long after, Taeoh saw Yeji on my side. He immediately stretched his hands out to Yeji.

"Mommy," Taeoh called out

Yeji looked at Heejin as if she was asking a permission to take Taeoh and Heejin just gave him to her. Then Yeji walked to her cousins.

"Why do I feel like I was about to die with her stares earlier?" Heejin asked

"Stop being delusional, Heejin. She's in a relationship with some jerk," I replied

"Some jerk. Huh. You always say that when you find out about her suitors," Heejin said

Heejin and I are friends. We have established that we are nothing more than that. We have outgrown our problems together with Beomgyu. Then an unexpected friendship grew between the three of us.

"Dinner's ready the two of you!" Mr. Hwang announced so we proceeded to the dining table

Yeji's cousins, her parents and her Granddad are there. Just like old times but we have an addition, my little Taeoh.

"Taeoh, come here. Your grandma also has to eat," I told Taeoh

Taeoh was about to come to my seat but Mrs. Hwang glared at me and she didn't let go of Taeoh.
