Spencer's POV

"Where are you going?" Yonni asks as she sits on my bed wrapped in messy sheets.

"With Shawn," I answer and she sucks her teeth.

"You call me over here and fuck my brains out, just to act like I don't exist when you're done?" She questions and I ignore her.

"You called me, remember?"

"Tomato, tomato," she says dismissively.

"I'll talk to you later. Make sure you lock my door on the way out," I say after hearing a horn beep.

"Spencer! Really?" She yells. "We can stay in and watch re-runs of Power."

"If I want to get into the industry, I'm going to have to go out and meet people," I explain and Yonni sighs.

"Why don't you just let Cisco help you?" She asks and I shake my head.

"And on that note, I'll be going," I tell her before opening the bedroom door to leave.

"Why do you act like that when I mention him?"

"Why would you be mentioning him while we're together?" I ask, rhetorically, before shutting the door.

Yonni is convinced her ex can help me get to where I want to be in Hollywood. But I'm no charity case.
______________

"Lets go, UK!" Shawn says excitedly as he hangs out of the window of a red Dodge Charger.

If it wasn't for Shawn, I wouldn't do much of anything in the city of angels. But he's my guy, so we hang from time to time.

"What are you so happy about?" I ask him as he reaches to shake my hand.

"Is that Yonni's car?" He counters while pointing at her silver Honda Accord.

"Mind your business," I say as I get comfortable in my seat and he peels off.

"That's your bed, not mine." He counters nonchalantly.

"Good! So leave it alone! I'm just trying to have a good time tonight," I respond before we listen to everything from Kendrick Lamar to Nipsey Hussle.

Everytime Shawn has his mom's car, I find out just how LA he is by the music, Converse, dark shades, khakis, and plaid shirt.

I nod my head to the beat before seeing a jammed-packed parking lot with a line that wraps around the block.

"Just follow my lead," Shawn says as we park and bypass the line.

"The line is back there." The bouncer tells us and it's at this moment that I regret even coming out tonight.

"Can you call Big P? I'm on his guest list." Shawn mumbles.

"Ain't no damn Big P working in here," the bouncer grunts and I suck my teeth.

"C'mon, before you embarrass us even more," I tell Shawn seriously as I peep over my shoulder at the pretty girl behind us.

"Ladies—-," the bouncer ignores us as he smiles at a group of women approaching the entrance. "Watch out fellas!"

We stand to the side as four women walk through the open red ropes that separates us from the inside.

I pretend to be on my phone because I'm too embarrassed to really make eye contact with any of them.

"We with them," Shawn says, loudly, and I really wish he didn't draw more attention to the fact that we can't get inside the club.

"Yeah, actually, the one on the phone is, apparently, my trash man," I hear a girl say and I immediately lift my head to see the same pair of heaven-sent eyes from earlier.
