Spencer's POV
TWO YEARS LATER
"Please use your walking feet by the pool, for daddy, Kennedi," I yell and my dad looks over at me with a smile as he gulps down his second mixed drink. "What's so funny, old man?"
He laughs, "I'm not too old to beat your butt, boy!"
I chuckle before walking over and sitting next to him as I begin eating my freshly grilled burger.
"Dee, put her foot in this potato salad!" I say and he agrees with a spoonful headed towards his mouth.
"DaDa—" my, almost two-year-old daughter, Kennedi screams as she runs from her big cousin Elle, who is chasing her with a water squirter.
"C'mere little girl," I say as I open my arms for her to land softly in my embrace before lifting her into my lap. "Are you trying to give daddy a heart attack by running near the pool?—- When mommy comes back from shopping, you have to be in one piece or she won't let me make another one of you."
My dad laughs hysterically at my humor and Kennedi stares into my eyes as if she understands every single word I'm speaking.
"You better slow down, man! I mean— I know you're three movies in, but Liv might kill you if she has to pop out anymore of your big head babies!"
I laugh as I kiss my daughter's head. "Whatever Pops! My babies' heads are perfect!—- And don't forget your boy starts filming a tv show next month!"
"Oh I didn't forget! Isn't it like some football show or something?" He asks and I nod after Kennedi's little fingers grab hold of my hot dog.
"C'mon, Ken!" I say with a smile as the back door opens and Dee walks out holding baby Xen in her arms.
"Somebody is ready to be changed," she tells me as she walks closer and places him into my arms.
"Oh, you couldn't do that?" I ask and she shrugs.
"I leave tomorrow Spencer! I don't want to spoil you by doing all of your daddy duties." She jokes and my dad chuckles at our banter before she walks away.
"Aye son, if I haven't said it in a while, I want to tell you how proud I am of the man you've become!" My dad tells me sincerely and I nod as my mind drifts back to the past few years. And I realize I've been on a winning streak.
Soon after our daughter Kennedi was born, I married the love of my life.
Then, I won a NAACP award for best supporting actor. And as if that's not crazy enough, I proudly shouted out Colson and the entire Colt 54 team for believing in the film the way they did.
My streak continued right into my next movie and the Golden Globe nomination I received about six months ago.
And to top it all off, baby Xen was born the day before I was casted as the lead actor on a new television show called All American.
In other words, life is amazing for me and I wouldn't trade my position for the world.
____________"Mommy," Kennedi yells as my mind leaves its state of reflection and returns to the present day—— just in time to witness the two prettiest girls in the world share a sweet kiss.
