Spencer's POV
"You know damn well we shouldn't be in here," Shawn says and he doesn't realize I'm way more uncomfortable than he could ever be.
"I know," I whisper.
This wasn't my idea. Olivia's friend, Ryan, insisted that we come inside for dinner.
And yes, I could've said no for the third time, but I figured my response didn't matter to her after the second.
"Dinner is almost ready." She says as she pats the seat next to her and winks at me.
I hear footsteps before seeing Olivia walk out of the kitchen seconds later.
"Look, I'm just going to address the elephant in the room—-" Shawn says as he looks over at Olivia.
I can tell by the stiffness in her eyes, she's nervous about what he'll say next.
"Elephant?" Ryan questions, curiously.
"Ya man ain't going to pop up with his goons and try to start shit with us, right?"
I suppose, Ryan invited Shawn, on the strength of me. But by the death stare she just gave him, I know she's already regretting it.
"Do you see him here?" Ryan counters and Olivia breathes in a sigh of relief.
Truthfully, Shawn can't ask about what her and I did last night because I didn't tell him.
"Good, now where's your bathroom?" He asks and Olivia points down the hallway before he leaves.
"Anyway—-when are you going to teach me how to act?" Ryan asks. "I know all of the lines from Love Jones. I can be the Nina Mosley to your Darius Lovehall."
It takes a lot for me not to laugh. I like aggressive women, but not as forward as her.
"Umm— sure, whenever you're ready," I tell her kindly and I notice Olivia's eyes slightly roll at my response. And If I'm reading her body language correctly, she's jealous.
I wouldn't consider myself a petty man. But I won't pretend like Olivia calling our night a mistake, didn't sting enough for me to watch her sweat.
"Can you do that thing with your chest like those buff men from tv?" She asks and I want to laugh, but then I would miss the opportunity to rub Olivia's nose a little deeper into this mess we find ourselves in.
"Oh this?" I ask as I move my chest up and down to Ryan's pleasure as she reaches across to touch.
"Okay—," Olivia says lowly and her friend is too busy checking me out to even realize.
"Mhmm! We could definitely do some things!" Ryan mumbles as she sits back down in her seat with a cheeky grin.
"Go ahead and drink a little water to quench that thirst!" Olivia mumbles, this time, loud enough for the Ryan to hear.
"She's just nervous, since she has a little boyfriend and all." Ryan counters. "So please forgive her rude ass—- and let's get back to us— How's Hollywood treating you?"
"I just landed my first acting gig--," I admit to take the slight tension out of the room.
"Do tell!"
"Yeah--- with her dad!" Shawn cuts in as he takes his seat.
"Wait? You know her dad?" Ryan questions. "When did all of this happen?"
"They met in an acting class," Olivia answers quickly. "And I hate to interrupt but I need help— I need Spencer's help!"
Shockingly, Ryan doesn't oppose. Instead she watches me closely as I get up and walk into the kitchen.
