"Are you guys sure you're ready for this?" you asked the quartet standing before you as all of you finished preparing for the coronation. "There's no going back after this, and we can't have anything stop us from getting that wand."
"We know," Mal replies. "And we've got this. No going back."
"No going back," the rest of them repeat in unison.
Moments later, there was a knock at the door, Carlos volunteering to go answer it as he moved away from the mirror, fixing his bow tie as he went. He swings the door open, coming face to face with one of the royal guards.
"Apologies for the intrusion," he says, bowing his head respectfully. "But I've been sent to pick up the future King's lady and escort her to the royal carriage."
"Guess that's your cue, Mal," Jay pipes up, the purple-haired girl taking a deep breath before smoothing out he dress.
"Don't trip on the train!" You warn jokingly, grabbing your hairbrush off the table so that you could help Jay with his struggles.
"We'll see you there, M," says Evie, giving her friend a reassuring smile as she disappeared down the hallway with the guard.
"What are you doing?" Jay asks, reaching his hands up to pick at his hair, jumping when you slap them away quickly. "Ow!"
"Hush, I'm giving you a man bun that actually looks decent," you grumble, using his hair tie to put together the updo, leaving out two small but still pretty visible strands of hair so that they could hang down in front. "There."
Jay picks up Evie's mirror, looking at himself through the cracked glass. "Not bad," he hums.
"Well, I did help Lady Tremaine at the salon for a while when I was paying off that debt."
Evie smiles at the memory, suppressing a laugh so she could ask her question. "Wasn't that the time you made that huge mess in the store and she found out it was you?"
"Yeah, only because someone else snitched on me," you huffed, crossing your arms playfully. "I would've gotten away with it if he hadn't."
"Did you get him back?"
"Yeah, he couldn't walk properly for the rest of the week."
"Wouldn't that mean you couldn't either? You were walking just fine that week," Jay questions, raising a curious eyeball.
"Huh?" You respond confusedly, not understanding what he was implying at first. "No-? What would that have to do with me-" Your reply trailed off as it finally started clicking in your brain what he meant, smacking his arm. "Ew, Jay! That's nasty, get your head out of the gutter!" He only replied with a snicker and a shrug, scooting away as you tried to swat at him again.
