i force myself to repeat the same refrain
over and over and over and over
until the heat from my cheeks
and the exhaustion smoking from lips
burns the lavender candle that lies in the center of a shrine
dedicated to the wilting flowers of my irrational fears
once strong with a blissful aroma
but a forgetful girl in her twirling white dress forgets to water them
singing melancholy tunes lies my saneness on a perch in its golden cage
its wings clipped and feathers ruffled
begging for a delicacy it will never receive
