Tangled Up In You

"guys! kinakabahan ako!" Alyssa yells as she paces back and forth out of nervousness.

"chill Ly, hindi naman makakahindi sayo yun eh." says Ben, one of her best friends.

"oo nga, mahal na mahal ka nun." pag a-assure naman sa kanya ni Albie, her other best friend.

"kaya nga! that's the point!" she yells again.

"jeez. kalma Ly, kalma." Alexa, one of her girl best friends say sabay pagpigil sa kanya sa kakalakad.

"pano ako kakalma?! I AM ABOUT TO ASK THE PERSON WHOM I LOVE THE MOST TO MARRY ME!"

"and kailangan perfect yung lahat ng gagawin ko! coz she deserves it!" Pagpa-panic niya.

"jusko naman Ly. kahit madapa ka pa or magkabuhol-buhol dila mo mamaya when asking her, tanggap ka pa din nun. hulog na hulog sayo yun eh, mahal na mahal ka nun. sobra." assurance naman ni Eian sa kanya.

Kasama niya lahat ng best friends niya at best friends din ni Samantha, her girlfriend. They all usually hangout together, but this time, may iba siyang plano.

She's going to ask the latter to marry her.

Alyssa recalls all the times she's spent with Sam, they were all both magical and real.

Their journey started as strangers, then turned into friends and then naging mag best friends, until Sam confessed.

And the feeling was mutual.

Since then, they were very vocal about their feelings. Though mas vocal and showy si Sam compared sa kanya, at the end of it all, it was her who asked Sam na maging girlfriend niya.

Fastforward to 4 years later, walang nagbago. Kung meron man, it's the feelings that got stronger.

Pinaparamdam at pinapakita lagi sa kanya ni Sam na mahal na mahal siya nito. Random breakfast in bed, random lunch dates, random dinner dates, random gala sa kung saan. Sam never failed to make her feel the love.

Sam also assured her na napaparamdam niya din yun sa kanya. The latter always tells her na kahit hindi siya showy, ramdam niya yung love through small gestures, sweet na tingin na never niyang nakita na binigay niya sa iba. Sam assured her that she's receiving the same love she's giving.

And she believes Sam.

But it does not mean na titigil siya na gawin yun.

This time around, she wants Sam to feel extra special. She wants to make the girl she loves so much to feel how she means to her.

Kaya kinakabahan siya. Kasi ayaw niyang magkamali. She wants everything perfect for the girl she loves.

"so chill, it will all go well." Anji tells her.

Speaking of Anji.

"wait Anj, ready na ba kayo ni Kayds?" tanong niya while panicking ulit.

"ready na, KD and I practiced many times na." Anji answered her na nagpakalma sa kanya.

"so we assure you Ly, walang problema." KD said.

"guys! sabi ni mama Brends, Sam's already inside the vicinity!" biglang sigaw ni Ben.

Nagsisimula na naman ang pagka panic ni Alyssa.

"gosh! kaya ba today???!!" tanong niya sa sarili.

"standby! dun na tayo sa gilid guys. Anji and KD, punta na kayo sa position niyo." instruction ni Alexa sa kanila.

She is also the planner that is responsible for everything kaya agad-agad namang sumunod din ang mga kasama niya.

"Ly, yung ring, nasa'yo na right?" tanong nito sa d mapakaling si Alyssa.

Lakad pabalik na naman ginagawa nito sabay punas ng kamay nito sa jeans.

"Ly! relax!!!" sigaw nito kay Alyssa na pinatigil ito.

"you can make this perfect for her. just relax. inhale." utos niya dito na sinunod naman ni Alyssa.

"and exhale." dagdag na sabi nito.

"the ring, nasa'yo?" tanong ulit nito.

"yes, yes." sagot ni Alyssa.

"good, now let's do this. goodluck Ly." she said sabay ngiti dito.

"tara!"

Who would have thought naman kasi na ang ever so calm and composed na si Alyssa Valdez would go all panic mode today.

Ni minsan, hindi nag panic and nagpakita ng weakness si Alyssa. None of her best friends saw her crying. Not until now.

As soon as naging visible si Sam sa kung nasan sila, KD then started playing the instrument while Anji started singing and that's when she cried.

Kita sa mata ni Sam yung gulat.

"what's happening?" Sam asked nung papalapit na siya.

"hi Sam." bati niya dito sabay smile. She tried her best to smile kahit umiiyak na siya.

"Ly, anong merooonn???" Sam asked na umiiyak na din.

"today marks the 5th year since you confessed na mahal mo ako." she started.

"walang paglagyan yung kilig ko nung umamin ka..and I thought wala ng mas gaganda sa pakiramdam na ganun." she then smiled at Sam as she held the girl's hand.

"pero nung tinanong ko sayo kung pwede ba kitang maging girlfriend and you agreed, nagbago yung thought ko na yun. that day became the one na d ko makakalimutan."

"but since then, I realized na yung mga panahong kasama kita, lahat yun d ko makakalimutan. lahat yun highlight ng buhay ko." she saw how Sam smiled at that.

"now, gusto ko sanang maging panghabang-buhay na'to. so I am going to ask you this." she started as she kneeled on one knee sabay kuha ng singsing sa bulsa.

"will you marry me?" she asked.

Ngumiti si Sam sa kanya. It's that smile that makes her feel secured.

Alam na niya ang sagot nito.

"I will." the girl says.

Sinuot niya ang singsing dito and kissed Sam's hand sabay tayo.

"you've seen me at my best and at my worst and you still stayed. you've become my strength in times I felt weak and I cannot wait to do the same for you." she added but Sam shook her head.

"you already did babe. and I love you. I always do." Sam told her sabay yakap sa kanya.

She's happy that Sam felt it. That she feels that she's receiving the same love she's giving.

Sam deserves it.

"I love you too. I always will." she said as she kissed the top of Sam's head.

"this will be the next chapter of my life Ly, and I am glad I'll still be spending it with you." sabi nito sa kanya when the girl looked at her in the eyes.

She cannot help it.

She kissed Sam sa lips. It was quick but the feeling lingered. Just how it always did.

"wag moko pakiligin ng sobra Sam. baka d tayo abutin ng bukas, pakasalan na agad kita ngayon din." she said.

"I won't say no Ly." nakangising sabi nito and she smiled at that.

God, I love this woman so much. She thinks as she pulled Sam for a hug.
