(Omg this is the end and I've been dreading posting this :( I'm going to miss this story)
After spending a year or two as a professor at Hogwarts, Severus and I had decided that we were to take a break from the wizarding world and settle down as muggles.

(No you don't have children that's so gross)
Over the span of 6 months that we'd decided to do that, he'd grown...distant. Almost as if he woke up everyday against his will and dreaded the very moment he spent living.

It was exhausting. Almost anything I did or said would provoke an argument.

So when we had started yet another fight over who's fault it was that they were in the situation they were, it shocked me when he stormed out into the world.

It was late, the rain pounding on the roof of the apartment, the churning water outside smashing against the rocks. I was in bed, the blankets pulled up, my knees against my chest as I watched the lightning arc across the sky, followed by a shattering burst of thunder.

But it wasn't thunder - it was the door, slamming against its hinges as Severus filled the doorway.

“Sweetheart.” He rasped, fingers clawing against the doorframe as he stumbled inside, his coat heavy and slick with rain.

My feet hit the floor in a flash, but he was already crossing the room to meet me, before coming to halt as I stood before him.

“Are you okay?” I asked, my eyes roving over him - something is off, something feels different.

“Yes, darling. I’m fine.” He looked at me like it was the first time, discarding his cloak on the side table, his hand reaching out to touch my face, my lips.

"What happened?” I asked, my voice hushed, my heartbeat loud in my ears.

“I think…” He began, but then trailed off. Then his dark eyes found mine, “I think I was given another chance tonight.”

Their sharp gaze turned cloudy, seeing something beyond me, “There’s some things I can’t change. Will never be able to. But there’s some things I can fix.”

There was the soft of whirl of his wand as he twirled it in his hand, the icy chill I had come to recognize coming to rest below my chin, tilting my head up with the small staff.

“Starting here.” He murmured, and he leaned forward, his lips pressing against mine.

I didn’t understand but I was melting against him, fingers reaching up to twine into the leather lapels of his jacket, tugging to keep him close.

His hands move to rest on my hips, fingers kneading soft flesh, walking me backwards until I tumbled onto the bed. Severus shedded his coat, taking all but a second to drape it over a chair, to kick off his boots before he was following me.

He was bigger than me, taller and wider, my bed creaking with his weight as he moved on top of me. I rolled beneath him, letting his thighs slot with mine, the weight of him welcoming as he leaned down to kiss me again. (Dad bod Severus supremacy)

Severus's mouth moved, worshiping my lips, moving to my chin, teeth scraping my jaw and then an earlobe.

I moved against him, my hips shifting until the seam of my leggings are caught just right, until the sharp spark of pleasure lit in my guts as I clung to him.
