"Reverie"

I briefly look at the pen in my rheumatic hand
Held transfixed by the empty sheet--momentarily entranced
I turn my eyes to the window to stare into the moonless night
To somehow see something in a place devoid of any light
But to my surprise
Tears fall from eyes
Then from my sadness, suddenly, I remember
The time when I used to think I will be living forever
The time were the sky is always sunny
A time where laughter used to abound in me
A moment later, a face, a blurry one, surfaces
Distracting me from my reverie; I am dazed
I try to remember
But my memory cannot distinguish its owner
It runs away, hands beckoning
Arms inviting
I hesitate
I am uncertain but I know I'll feel great
For my heart never feels so light
This feeling, magical it may seemed to be, is right
Suddenly my skin from rough turns to smooth
As if I just bathed in the fountain of youth
Or perhaps I am truly young
For I can even taste life's zesty tang
The face calls upon me
Still blurry but it looks as if it's the sun's own ray
I smile and walk towards the owner of the face
My heart's reeling; I feel the heightening of my senses
I walk wherever I am being led
Follow whatever path being treaded
I know not nor see the face
But my heart is kissed
I am in love maybe with a fantasy
Detached from the reality
I am hypnotized
I am mesmerized
By someone indistinguishable by my eyes
It holds my hand when I come near
I am wondering but I feel no fear
I feel comforted
I feel wanted
I feel loved
The thing I thought I don't have
I am being held
Even cradled
Curiosity piqued, I try to stare
Try to look closely; try to be closer
But still, I can't make something out of the blur
Only the steady beat of the heart between its breasts I can hear
I try to talk but my mouth is hushed
I stay silent
Even without words, seems everything's heaven-sent
Time seems infinite
Everything feels intimate
I feel like lying in a cloud made of silk
Swimming in a peaceful lake
Eternity seems to pass when my eyes feel heavy
Heavy, heavy, heavy, heavy
To the dreamland then I succumb
Serenaded by a melodic hum
Sleep, sleep
Sleep deep
I am off to dreamland
Touched by loving hands
Kisses, kisses
Beautiful caresses
I feel loved
I am floating above
Sleep, sleep, dear
It says, do not fear
You are my love
My beloved dove
Murmur sweet nothings
I hear even when dreaming
Sleep, sleep
Sleep deep
Sleep the emptiness
Sweep the sadness
For when I am back to reality
Again, I will be lonely
