Chapter Eight - Temptation Island

The sea was a lot calmer now as we approached another island and went ashore in long boats

"I doubt the Lords stopped here my liege. There is no sign of anything living" Reep called

"Right well once we get ashore late your men and search for food and water. The five of us will look for clues." Caspian replied

"Four. I want Lessa to go with Reep. And don't even bother arguing or looking to your father for help" i pointed at my daughter

"fine" she sulked

"wait you mean the five of us" we looked at Eustace

"oh come on please don't send me back to the rat" he whined gesturing back to our local, little friend.

"i heard that" Reep said

"big ears" he mumbled

"i heard that too" i chuckled and we pulled ashore. And began looking for clues, anything to suggest that the lords might have stopped here or that there was any kind of food.

"look were not the first one's on this island" Cas pointed to the rope attached to the bolder.

"the lords?" i wondered catching up

"could be" he picked up a stone and chucked it down into the hole that was close by in which was assumed where it was supposed to have gone.

"what do you think could be down there" he asked

"let's find out" Edmund stated and went down first. Once he was down i went down Edmund held my waste as i jumped into his arms.

"my strong man" i smirked

"of course my Queen." he replied, i laughed and was set on the floor. Lucy and Caspian joined us. There was a rumbling and we went to see what it was . We found a pool with a golden statue.

"what's that" Caspian asked

"don't know it looks like some kind of gold statue" Ed replied he then broke a branch and went to prod it but it began to turn into gold he dropped it

"He must have fallen in" Cas sighed

"poor man" Lu said

"you mean poor Lord" Ed pointed to a shield in the water

"the crest of Lord Restimor" Cas told us crouching down looking at the former lord in the pool

"and his sword"

"We need it" Ed took his sword out and used it to lift the other

"your swords hasn't turned to gold" i breathed

"that's because both swords are magical" Cas told me as he took the second sword "

"he mustn't have know what hit him" Lucy sighed

"maybe or maybe he was onto something" Ed put his sword down

"what are you talking about" my husband took a shell and dipped it in the water before putting it down and watching it turn to gold he looked at it with amazement

"what are you staring at?" i questioned

"whoever has access to this pool could be the most powerful person in the world." i shared a look with Caspian and Lucy.

"Georgie, we be so rich no one could tell us what to do or who to live with. We could be together as a proper family you, me , Alessandra maybe even more." His expression was different from the Edmund I was used to.

"you can't take anything out of Narnia, Edmund" Cas  told my husband

"says who?"

"says me" he replied. Ed looked at Caspian before picking up his sword and handing me the shell as well as pushing me out of the way.

"i'm not your subject" Edmund moved up the steps.

"You've been waiting for this haven't you. To challenge me, you doubt my leadership" Both of their insecurities and desires were oozing out of them and in a dangerous way.

"you doubt yourself" Ed snapped back at him. I grabbed a hold of his shoulder in a attempt to diffuse the situation.

"Edmund stop acting like this"

"stay out of this Georgie" he snipped back at me but I wouldn't stop trying.

"your a child"

"and your a spineless sap"

"Edmund" Lucy tried but was brushed off.

"I'm tired of playing second fiddle first it was Peter and now it's you! You know i'm braver than both of you, I have a wife and child. you don't neither does he, Why do you get Peter's sword. I deserve a kingdom of my own i deserve to rule"

"if you think you're so brave, prove it." they used their swords Lucy stood in the middle of them.

"stop it both of you, Look at yourselves. Can't you see what's happening, this places has tempted you. Its bewitching you, this is exactly what Coriakin was talking about. Lets just get out of here" Lucy left and i followed her

At the boats we saw little food, that they had managed to find, it was as expected this was praticallt a barren island and full of danger and temptations. I was happy to leave and move onto the next.

"what food did you find" Caspian wondered

"its volcanic your majesty not much grows" Rhince stated

"where's Eustace" Lucy asked

"I believe his is out not helping us load the boats" Reep informed my sister in law.

"Eustace! Eustace!" she called "Edmund i've got a bad feeling"

"i'll go find him" Ed replied

"i'll come with you" Cas added

"so will i" they looked at me "as if i'm going to trust you two alone after what just happened" With that said we headed off.

"Eustace!" i shouted

"Eustace" Caspian did the same

"Eustace" Ed yelled we stopped at the sight of a valley of gold.

"ugh why do i have a terrible feeling he was lured here"

"treasure" Ed said

"trouble" Caspian countered

"what's that" Ed pointed to something and we went down to have a look and what he had spotted int the distance.
