"Hey, Doll? What's so special about today?"

The pair had finished their breakfast, and were currently clearing everything away. Y/n had already told Bucky that she could clear everything up with her powers, but Bucky insisted on the pair doing it together. He'd told her that he wanted to see what it was like for a 'normal' couple, but it was pretty obvious to y/n that he was just trying to waste time and calm his nerves.

Y/n had a pair of yellow rubber gloves on, humming along to the radio as she used a sponge to clean their dirty dishes. The sink was full of bubbles - far too many bubbles, according to Bucky, who had told her that the dishes 'don't need a bubble bath'. But y/n didn't care, it made her smile. She hated housework, that was why she let her powers do it all for her, but y/n would do anything for her husband.

She lifted her head up at the sound of Bucky's voice, a curious look in her eyes. "Hm?" She hummed, noticing that the super solider had stopped clearing the fruit away to look at something on the calendar. "Well, your boss is visiting you at the store, but I'm sure you've remembered that." Y/n smiled, confused at the question. It was obvious that Bucky was aware of his boss visiting, he'd put on his best suit. "Why?"

Bucky shrugged, setting the bowl of fruit in his hands back down on the kitchen table. His eyes stayed fixed on the calendar, crossing his arms over his chest. "There's a heart above today's date, look." He nodded toward the calendar on the wall, eyebrows furrowing in confusion. The super soldier didn't remember making any other plans, and he definitely didn't mark his boss visiting with a love heart.

Y/n pulled her rubber gloves off, setting them on the counter before she made her way toward Bucky, a slight frown beginning to appear on her face. "That's weird..." She hummed, her eyes fixed on the calendar with the same curious look that her husband had. "I don't remember making any other plans. There might be a town meeting, but I wasn't planning on going." Y/n shrugged, resting her hands on top of Bucky's as her husband wrapped his arms around her from behind.

The pair had both made sure that there weren't any other plans for the day, wanting to be sure that if the boss visit didn't go well, Bucky still had y/n to come home to. Plus, Bucky was going to be exhausted after the visit, it was a long day of ensuring everything was perfect, the last thing he wanted was to head out to an event and force a smile for even longer.

Bucky rested his chin atop y/n's head, his arms snaking around her waist to hold her impossibly closer as they stared at the calendar. It was quite a funny sight, both of them having identical looks of confusion on their face as they desperately tried to figure out what was so important. It was almost as if you could see the cogs turning.

The sound of the clock ticking quickly caused Bucky to snap out of their confused silence, letting out a sigh as he moved away from y/n. "Well, I'm sure that we'll figure it out later, but right now I need to start heading to the store." He smiled, making his way toward the backdoor. "And yes, you can use your powers to clear everything else up." The super soldier chuckled, settling his fedora on the top of his head. He reached out to open the door, prepared to step out and get his day started, but just before he could say goodbye, y/n interrupted him.

"Oh! Wait!" She called out with wide eyes, hurrying over to the counter where she grabbed a single leather glove. Y/n tossed it in Bucky's direction, a warm smile on her face. "Can't forget that." She cooed, slinking around the counter and toward the nervous super soldier.

Bucky could've sworn that he'd heard an audience laugh as the glove was thrown at him, just like how he'd heard it earlier that morning. It was weird. Really weird. But y/n didn't react to it at all, so he once again decided that it was just the radio. He'd never heard laughter like that on the radio before, but he was far too busy to quiz y/n on it.

Nobody in the town knew that Bucky had a vibranium arm, nor did they know that y/n had powers. Hell, the townspeople only knew them as Fred and Darlene. A normal, perfect couple. Their excuse for wearing a leather glove was because Fred had 'circulation problems', and nobody ever seemed to question it.

Bucky caught the glove with wide eyes, quickly pulling it over his vibranium hand. He couldn't believe that he'd almost left the house without it, he'd never done that before, but it was obvious that he had other things on his mind. The idea of losing the store was terrifying. However, before he could begin spiralling, he felt a pair of soft hands cup his face.

"Everything's going to be fine, okay?" Y/n cooed in a reassuring tone, rubbing her thumbs across his cheeks before her hands slid down to rest on his chest. Just by looking in his eyes, she could tell how nervous he was. "You've run that store perfectly for as long as I can remember. Just think of him as a normal customer." She shrugged. "A grumpy, old customer."

Bucky chuckled, a fond smile appearing on his face as his nerves slowly slipped away. "I'm going to tell him you called him that." He teased, pressing a few kisses to y/n's lips as she laughed. "I'll call you later, okay? I'll give you some updates on how it went." Bucky hummed, moving away from y/n's grasp to open the door. "I love you." He smiled, giving y/n a wink before he finally disappeared.

"Love you too!" Y/n called out, rushing to the open door to watch Bucky leave. An adoring smile played at her lips as she watched the super soldier walk away. God, she loved that man.
