A/n: the song on the second slide is good ambient music for this chapter. Feel free to press play and let it run as you're reading. ;)

The morning didn't look much like it due to the lack of sun, and the tinted windows of the office. But slowly Chuuya woke only to feel a sharp pain suddenly hit him in the side of the head. And after a groan, and a few moments of adjusting to the darkness in the room, the first thing he did was check the time.
It was five in the morning.
He was in his same clothes, still in his office space, and hungover after a spontaneous moment of profuse drinking. He must have slept on the sofa. A sigh escaped his lips in his own self disappointment.
And then he realized something. He hadn't been alone last night. But when he looked around the dark room, he saw that you were nowhere to be found. He had been left, the lights turned off to sleep off his drunkenness. Whether or not that was a good thing, he wasn't quite sure. It depended on whether or not you were similar to Dazai.
And that was yet to be seen.
He sighed and got up after a few moments of preparation, needing to get home in order to tend to himself and be ready for the day. He could still feel the alcohol lingering in his head, and pressed his hand against his temple to subdue the pain, stretching out his other limbs as he stood, then looking around once more.
On the coffee table sat his hat, and beside it, a bottle of water with an orange note attached. He furrowed his brows as he picked it up, squinting slightly to read what was written in the dark.

'Mess on the table is important, Don't move it.
                ~XOXO Your roommate'
                                   'Ps. thx'

A constant clicking noise filled the room to its edges. Your fingers were the source, moving swiftly over the keyboard, your eyes fixated on the bright glow of the screen. On it was a set of messages, encrypted with a password that you didn't have, but deduced rather quickly and opened to reveal its contents. Memos and photos all opened at once, and you quickly clicked through them to hide all the tabs but one. It stood out to you more than the rest.
It was a photo of Dazai.
It was incredibly blurry, yes, but after spending time with him you knew for sure that the fuzzy figure in the photo had to be him. The memo attached was blank, all but a list of categories that were meant to be filled in, such as ability, age, description, ect. And sent back with the rest of the files.

The note at the bottom read, "Erratic, likely the cause of multiple casualties," and you couldn't help but feel like that happened to fit perfectly with what you had seen. Dazai had the look to him like he had been staring death in the face for years, and the energy to match it as well. You knew for a fact that he was in charge of the guerilla forces under the boss and very dangerous, so much that you wrote it down in the description section. After, you tried your best to piece together as much information as you could, but the more you tried, the more you realized something.
You didn't know nearly enough to return the files any time soon. Usually, your ability to research things led you down the right paths to get almost any information you wanted, but with Dazai in particular, it seemed nearly every source was in agreement.
The man was an enigma. There didn't seem to be a single person on the planet who fully understood him, in fact, most even failed to try. This single fact gave you insight to his behaviors, understanding just a little better now why he seemed so peculiar. He walked and spoke in a manner as if he knew wholeheartedly of his otherness. He knew no one would ever truly see him.

You wondered for a moment if you were falling into a trap of thinking you knew him on a personal level when you didn't. But that thought was quickly pushed aside. A rabbit hole of reasoning like that would quickly drive you insane. Whether you really knew him or not didn't matter. You told yourself that at the least.
