Lexi howard

I had been best friends with the Howard sisters for as long as I could remember. I found comfort in the both of them. Lexi is different though. I have had a crush on the younger Howard since middle school I don't remember the exact moment but my feelings for her had just changed one day.

Cassie knew all about my love for her sister and was all too happy about it. She has been trying to convince me to confess for years. Including now, in the school hallway along with Maddy.

"Come on, you've been in love with her for how  long? I think it's time to say fuck it and tell her." Cassie says.

"Cass, it's not that easy."

"As her sister I can assure you that she feels the same."

"For some reason don't believe you."

"Oh my god. Stop being a pussy and just tell her already." Maddy says in her usual bitchy tone.

"Tell who what?" Lexi says as she appears out of seemingly nowhere.

"Uh, nothing. Cassie, can we leave now?" I stutter out.

The car ride with the Howard sisters was filled with a comfortable silence. I found myself looking at Lexi through the rear view mirror too much. I was distracted enough that I didn't even realize that we arrived to their house.

"Y/N, we're here." Lexi said with a soft smile.

We walked inside and I said my hello to Suze who was drinking her usual wine on the couch and watching some movie. The three of us headed to their shared room and got comfortable, listening to music and talking about random things. Until Cassie got up declaring she needed a drink and gave me a pointed looks as if to say, "Nows the time." I had my chance so I decided to take it.

"Hey, Lex. Can I tell you something?" I say nervously.

"Of course." She responded. Giving me her full attention. Their was a hint of worry in her eyes.

"I really like you. As like more than a friend. I pretty much always have."

"Are you sure?"

"Of course I'm sure. Why wouldn't I be?"

"I don't know. I guess usually everyone goes for Cassie, or if they are interested in me it's only so they can get closer to her."

"Lex, Cassie is my best friend and I care for her deeply but not the same way I care for you. I promise. You are so much more to me than just Cassie's sister. You always have been. You're so kind and selfless. Not to mention everything else about you. I mean who wouldn't fall in love with you."

"Wow. I think that's the nicest thing someone has ever said to me."

Lexi seemed to be getting tears in her eyes.

"So, can I take you out on a date? I'll make it worth your wile"

"Yes, you can."

I found myself leaning towards her but we were interrupted by the door opening.

"Fucking finally." Cassie said with a smirk. "I didn't think my plan would actually work."

We rolled our eyes at the blonde. But we were too happy to care too much. I went home that night thinking about what would've happened if Cassie didn't walk in the room. And dreaming of the future to come.
