"Well if it isn't Prince Charming himself" Fae joked as Jack just looked back confused the next following morning

"Don't listen to her, she's just trying to tease me" you then said walking up to him

"Didn't think that would be something I would be referred to but okay" he simply spoke

"How have you been? Since you know, all the commotion about the winter festival coming up" Fae then asked making you shoot her a surprised yet hesitant look causing her to just give a little unnoticeable wink as she wiped her eye as if something was in it

You might be wondering, how does she know? Or possibly if Jack even knows, well, Fae is another very close friend aside from Jack himself, the female bestie between your two friends, so of course she would know, and yes, Jack knows, only one who does know about the relationship is you three, simple as that

"The winter festival? I haven't been really doing anything for the festival yet, they just keep putting me on the same tasks I always do, usually they won't ever need me until last minute" he then answered

That's good to know..

"Have you thought about attending?" She then asked making you fidget with your fingers for a bit

"Honestly, not really, I usually attend with Mary since she loves to hang out with her friends during the festival, I'm just there more as a chaperone for her like I always am"

"What about your mom?" Fae asked

"She'll be there, but most likely would be busy catching up with everyone" he answered

"So you volunteer to watch over Mary?" She asked questionably

"Yeah, not only that, I don't really have a choice, Mary always wants me around during those times, she always say that I make it more fun for them" he said with a little chuckle

"That's because you do, that's what you're known for" you then said from beside him

"Well maybe you should think about actually participating this year, you know, have some fun yourself" Fae said giving him a little poke

"I don't know.. what about Mar-"

"Hello you three!" Elisa greeted happily as she walked up to the group

"In that case, I take it back, go for just Mary" Fae corrected before patting his shoulders and walked off causing you to sigh and you just shook your head

"Okay?" He then said confused yet questionable

"What are you two up to? I always see you two around each other" Elisa asked stopping in front of you two

"Well we were just talking about the festival" Jack then said still a bit confused due to the reoccurring moment with Fae

"Speaking of the festival, there's something that I wanted to ask you" she spoke up causing you to look away

"I was wondering if maybe you would like to be my partner for the first time" she continued as you just stood there silently looking around in the awkward moment

"Partner? I don't think so.. I try to stay away from those things, and also because I'm just attending just to watch over my sister" he replied

"Aww, you're no fun" she pouted

"Hey, I'm all about fun" he said back kind of offended as you just silently crossed your arms in thought

I mean.. he DID basically declined her offer, possibly because he knows it'll be as if he's on a date with her, but he also mentioned Mary, He wasn't lying when he said that he was only planning on attending just to watch over her but it could also be an excuse to not be her partner since he is all mines..

"I don't know.. you aren't really sounding fun right now" she said back

Geez, can't this girl take a hint and be gone?

"That doesn't mean that I can't be" he commented when you just bit your lip knowing that you're about to regret your next actions

"I think you should take up on that offer" you finally spoke up getting both of their attention

"Wait what?" He asked even more confused

"Yeah, like Fae said, you should have at least a little fun to yourself, I could watch over Mary if you want, I don't think she would mind letting you have at least some time to yourself to have fun too"

"But-" he stopped when Elisa then grabbed both of your hands excitedly

"You really think so?!" She questioned happily as you just stared at her silently before giving her a small smile

"I really do" you simply answered when you looked over her at Jack as he just stood there staring back at you silently as his shoulders dropped a little showing a bit of mixed emotions on his face making hard to read which ones exactly

"You're such a good friend, suggesting what you think is best for others" Elisa then said breaking yours and Jack's gaze causing you to look back at her as he just looked away silently

"What's.. best?" You asked yourself aloud

"Well obviously, you're suggesting him to go to have at least some fun to himself, right? That's what's best for him" she then said as she let go of your hands and turned to face him again

"So, are you willing to go or?" She then asked questionably once more causing Jack to pinch the bridge of his nose as he mumbled something inaudible before sighing

"Yeah.. sure" he finally said aloud as she just clasped her hands together happily causing you to give a little sigh as well

"Great, then I'll be seeing you the night of the festival then" she spoke before she then touched his nose as she turned to leave

"I'll see you two later" she continued as she walked off

"(Y/n) I-" he started when you stopped him

"No, it's fine, I'm the one who suggested it, Fae's right, you should at least have some fun to yourself for once, I can watch over Mary"

"You think this is going to be fun?" He then asked

"What do you mean? It's the winter festival, of course it would be"

"I meant with the fact that now I have to go with someone who I am not remotely the least bit interested in" he stated

"Then just go as friends, there doesn't have to be anything romantic about it"

"There's never anything romantic about it, considering the fact that I don't like her in that way"

"I would hope not"

"You're such a pain" he sighed

"I know, and I don't want you to go as her partner but knowing her, she'll find a way eventually"

"You owe me" he mumbled looking away as you just gave him a small smile

And with that, you pulled him into a hug

"Sooner or later, it wouldn't have to be like this"
