Their blank faces stared
at me; for a still moment my
heart skipped a beat.
Through their glassy irises I
saw my reflection. It peered back
at me silently questioning.
My voice died down while
the lids flew wide open.
The dainty auburn locks
framed my face. For once,
I could see me,
Just me,
and I'll never get used to it.
