My fingers wrapped themselves around
the clammy stepping stones.
The crown is mine.
Only mine.
The thorns tore through
my tough skin like a knife,
serrating and drawing out
ichor, only further enraging
the fire that burned inside me,
waiting to erupt.
And erupt it shall.
