With this being Sam's state of mind, you know you're not going to get anything out of this conversation. You and Dean exchange looks before leaving the room. Sam makes no move to stop you. In fact, he's not even looking at you. Since you can't be much help at the hospital, you decide to head back to the motel where you might be able to find answers in the many books your dad owned.
Zeus can tell how stressed you two are, especially Dean. He wants to comfort either one of you, but you both have your own agendas. Dean is going to call every single person he and your dad both knew while you have to give Joanna a bath. It might be too early to give her one, but she is a great stress reliever. She reminds you that there are good things in this world other than monsters, death, and destruction.
You start the bath just as Dean pulls out his dad's journal and see who might be in there to help.
"Want to take a bath, sweet girl?" you ask and pull Joanna from her car seat.
Dean takes out his phone and dials the first number he sees, though they don't answer.
"I'm a friend of Bobby Singer. I'm looking for some info. If you could, uh, call me back at 785-555-0128. Thanks."
He promptly hangs up and crosses a name off a list he created. He goes down the line and calls every single person, getting more frustrated when they either can't help or don't want to. He crosses off more names than he wants to admit, and you watch from the bathroom door with a frown on your face. There is barely any water in the tub that you can stay by the door and not have to worry about Joanna drowning. Plus, there are toys in there that she is preoccupied with, so you're content with being right here.
Dean slams the small journal shut and tosses it onto the table. He gets up and walks to the refrigerator to grab a beer. As he is taking out the beer bottle, you feel a breeze in the room as if there is something or someone there with you. This causes the very sturdy journal to slide off the table and fall to the floor.
"What the hell was that?" Dean asks and turns to look at the open journal.
"Sometimes, I feel like my dad is here with us right now," you sigh.
"I'm right here. Please know this," Bobby pleads.
"Sam's right on this one. We burned him."
"You and I both know that a ghost can appear even after we burn the remains. If we hold onto him strongly enough, he can come back to us."
"We'd all like to think that, wouldn't we?" Dean sighs and picks up the journal.
There is a business card for Mackey's Taxidermy right on the page it had opened to. On the back is a phone number that is just calling out for Dean to call it.
"Dad, if you're here, just know I miss you so much," you say to yourself, hoping that he can hear you.
"I miss you more," Bobby says truthfully.
"Yeah, hi. Uh... my name's Dean. I'm a friend of Bobby Singer. I'm looking for some info about healers or some miracle shit. If you could call me back at 785-555-0128. Thanks."
"I know what would cheer you up."
"Yeah, what's that?"
"Bath time with Joanna. She could use the company." Dean looks up from his spot at the table with exhaustion lying beneath his eyes. At the promise of seeing his daughter enjoy herself in the bath, he nods in agreement. "I can handle this. Go be with our daughter."
Dean gets up and heads to the bathroom. He smiles widely when he sees her, but you know there is so much more behind it. He is trying to put on a good front for her, but sometimes, it doesn't work. Zeus trots into the bathroom to be with the both of them, and you stay in your spot by the door.
