~ Mathilda POV ~

Well, discussing the whole thing about poisoning Dumbledore had been rather unsuccessful. No one had really been talking a lot about it and Dumbledore just had brushed it off, claiming that it had probably been just a stupid mistake or a bad joke. Seriously?

Both Sirius and I had been quite startled about that — someone was after his life and he chose to ignore it?
He had immediately told Sirius off when he had tried to ask him again in private after the meeting.

And Harry.

Harry also behaved rather oddly. Not telling us everything I believed. His letters were short, mostly telling us that he was fine. That was it. Fine.

And Daisy also told us not much more. She mostly wrote the same things — Harry was rather absentminded, closed off, always clung to a weird book. She wrote that she was fine, studying a lot but that was it. Quidditch and choir practices were exhausting but really fine.

But no one could deny that things weren't crazy and the war was inevitable anymore.

Slughorn indeed had come to visit my grandfather during the Easter Holidays, had talked a bit with me, too, but had avoided every question that I had asked into the direction of Harry or Dumbledore.

"Oh, Bell you know...war is coming. People are weird and behave even weirder when war is around the corner. These are dark times. Crazy times."

Severus had never visited again and also did not write to me any more. I had tried writing to him, asking him about Harry, about Dumbledore about anything. I even asked him about Voldemort.

But...nothing.

Alastor made Order members guard Hogwarts, but it was risky and had to happen in absolute secrecy. They hid outside the castle walls, changing shifts every now and then.
They kept an eye on everyone entering the castle and leaving it. Every person nearing the castle immediately got double-checked, Alastor went through millions of files. We did too.

Nothing suspicious had happened in the past weeks though. Order members still constantly reported back to Alastor and I more and more felt awe for how hard he was working. Also pride about how he managed all of that so easily and also that he still trusted Sirius and I so much.

Sirius and I had just returned from a meeting, picking Oscar up from my mother quickly making our way over to our own house.

Sirius was cursing under his breath about the change of weather. "Do you see that fucking huge, black cloud up there?" he grumbled and I immediately tsked. Oscar had started picking up words and "fuck" was really not something I wanted him to learn. Rolling his eyes, Sirius blew me a kiss, before his gaze snapped back to the sky.

Heavy black clouds covered nearly the whole sky, but it did not seem like a normal change in weather.

The weather got even worse during dinner, thunderclouds spreading over the sky.
