Introduction

Nico Castillo was a kid with serious anger issues. A fact that became apparent to his family when he was eight and his father got a call from his school because he'd broken a boy's nose. Nico's father had sat his son down to see what had happened and Nico merely shrugged, "He spilled his drink all over me."

At twelve, Nico had started playing football he used it as a coping mechanism, in football he was allowed to be violent hell, it was expected of him. At thirteen he became best friends with Nate Jacobs, and that's when the drinking started. It started off light maybe the occasional beer at an after-party, but eventually, it got worse. Nico often found himself passed out drunk in some frat boys' yard, the teen grew used to the shameful feeling of walking home. Unruly hair, dirty clothes, and flinching at every car that drove by because his head was pounding. It became a routine for his father to be sitting on their front porch watching the street for his son. Matteo would never yell at his son, Nico thinks his father was just relieved that it wasn't a cop come to tell him that his son was in jail or worse dead.

The relationship between father and son was a rocky one on good days. Partly due to Nico's drinking problems and anger issues, problems that Nico never really went out of his way to correct. Problems that caused most of the fights in the Castillo household, plates would get broken and angry hateful things would be said from both sides. Things that neither side meant. It was these fights that led Matteo to send his son to rehab over the summer.
