Chapter 2 - Tu hi apna paraya

The next day

While they were in the car Virat decided to ask Sai about the nightmare.

Virat: Kal raat jo hua, ye normal hai kya?

(What happened last night, is this normal?)

Sai: Nahi. Jabse Aaba ki maut hua hai, aise nightmares hota raha

(No. Ever since Aaba's death, such nightmares kept happening.)

Virat: To tum kya karti?

(so what do you do?)

Sai: Kuch nahi. Kabhi kabhi main apne aap par jaag jati hai. Kabhi kabhi nightmare khud chale jate hai.

(Nothing. Sometimes I wake up on my own. Sometimes the nightmares themselves go away.)

Virat: Lekin pichle kuch dino mein, maine tumhare awaaz nahi suna

(But in the last few days, I haven't heard your voice)

Sai: Actually jabse aapke ghar mein aayi, nahi hua tha. Kal raat pehli baar hua (Sai said confused)

(Actually since I came to your house, it had not happened. Last night happened for the first time)

She also wondered the reason for the nightmares stopping for a few days.

Virat dropped her off and went to work. That day Sai's results were coming out. She and Usha Maushi went to collect the results at the school. The police officer accompanying them, told Virat about the trip. He was confused as Sai didn't tell him anything. He called Usha Maushi when they returned to the house...and Usha Maushi told him about how good Sai did. He was happy to hear that.

Usha Maushi: Aapko pata hai. Jab bhi Sai ka result aaya tha, Kamal Dada hamesha uske liye kuch karte the. Celebrate karne ke liye. Aaj pehli baar Sai ki result ki aane par koi celebration nahi hoga (She said getting emotional)

(Do you know. Whenever Sai's results came, Kamal Dada always used to do something for her. to celebrate. Today, for the first time, there will be no celebration of Sai's result.)

Virat felt sad to hear that. He wanted to do something special for her...but he knew it would probably just upset her instead.

Virat: Kya karte the Kamal sir?

(What did Kamal sir do?)

Usha Maushi told Virat about how Kamal sir would buy Sai candy floss as it was her favourite, and balloons to celebrate. Virat thanked her and hung up. He left during his lunch break and went to get balloons and candy floss. When he arrived, he called Usha Maushi and asked her to come outside.

Virat: Ye sab aap Sai ko de dijiye...celebrate karne ke liye. Mujhe pata hai ki shayad vo celebrate nahi karna chahegi lekin-

(Give all this to Sai... to celebrate. I know she might not want to celebrate but-)

Usha Maushi - Damaad ji aap khud Sai ko kyu nahi dete?

(Why don't you give all this to Sai yourself?)

Virat: Nahi Maushi. Aapko pata hai, Sai mere baare mein kya sochte hai. Agar maine ye sab diya to Sai ko accha nahi lagega. Iss liye please, aap de dijiye aur usse mat bataiye ki maine le aaya

(No Maushi. You know what Sai thinks of me. Sai would not like it if I gave all this. So please give it to her and don't tell her that I brought it)

Usha Maushi tried to object but Virat convinced her. She felt happy that Virat was trying to make Sai happy...and he didn't even care to take the credit for it. She felt like her decision to get Sai married to him, was a right one.
