Next Day.

Nylah turned in her sleep, a frown on her face. She hadn't been able to sleep comfortably the whole night.

She opened her eyes, letting them adjust to her semi dark room, minimal sunlight shining from her blinds.

A few seconds later, her phone rung, and she reached under her pillow, answering Kentrell's FaceTime call, seeing that it was 5 in the morning.

"I can't sleep. I miss you." He mumbled, and she smiled, rubbing her eye.

"I just woke up from that. I can't get comfortable. I need you holding me now." She chuckled, and a small smile tugged at his lips.

"Hold a pillow for now. We'a see each other later, yeah?" He mumbled, and she nodded, grabbing her body pillow from the bottom of her bed and throwing her leg around it.

"You want me to talk until you fall asleep?" She asked, sitting her phone up on her nightstand so that he could see her.

"Please." He sat his up as well, looking at her through the camera, and she blew a kiss, making him smile.

"Breath probably just hittin'." He shook his head, and she dramatically gasped, making him laugh.

"This why ion like you, foreal." She bucked through the camera, and he smiled.

"Bootybutt." He kissed the camera on his phone, and she laughed, rolling her eyes.

"Lay back so you can go to sleep Ky." She said, and he did so, holding his pillow that smelled just like her to his body, burying his face in it.

"I miss you so much." He mumbled, though she'd just left last night.

"I miss you too stink. I will be over later, I promise. And we can go out to eat, or like to an arcade or something." She suggested, and he nodded, sighing under his breath.

If it was up to him she would've been moved in with him. He needed her more than she knew and when she wasn't with him, he didn't feel like himself.

"You believe in mermaids Ken?" She asked, and he nodded, looking at her.

"Me too. I don't know where they'd be though. I saw a tiktok that said they weren't how we think they are-like Ariel? She sweet and stuff. This girl on tiktok said they evil and do curses and shit. Like Ursula." She told him, and his eyes lowered, becoming sleepy.

"Like that fairy tiktok you sent me?" He asked, and she nodded.

"That one-I just can't believe. I watched all the tinkerbell movies and can't nothing make me believe my girl evil. And how would they even know they evil? Cause ain't nobody seen one, at least nobody alive in civilization. But those people in those untouched parts of earth-probably have."

"I think they'd be the only ones who know about certain things on earth-like mermaids and fairy's. Cause they the only ones who still got they real culture. Well I don't think culture is the right word to use, but, you know." She looked up at the camera, seeing his eyes closed and his mouth slightly agape, meaning that he was sleep, and she chuckled.

She pulled her cover over body, snuggling up to her pillow and closing her eyes, rubbing her own hand. She missed him.

A few hours later, Nylah awoke to music playing from downstairs, making her frown in her sleep.

"Ugh." She groaned, facepalming herself as she smelled chemicals, meaning her parents were probably deep cleaning the house.
