My gown sweeps the floor
As the mundane party begins
Sparkles of splendor everywhere
But benign hearts nowhere to be found.
Echoed through the hallway, the clinking of glasses
The hoax of the carefully poised smiles
Added to the dullness of nobody's realm
Captivated neither by the stares nor the wine
I stare down at my empty glass
My eyes travel through the unkempt masses
Seeking for what the heart feels genuine
True to the abodes of the heavens above,
There I see
Another pair of eyes,
Seeking what I seeked.
Our eyes greet, a moment of epiphany
The search for the unfeigned, to an end at last
Exploration of a peculiar shared interest,
Just at the brink of dawn.
The beginning of something beautiful,
Sealed with a promised dance.
I might as well thank you my Lord,
For the sleepless nights that are yet to follow.
