"For the next two days?"

The warmth from his body heat tickles your skin as he continues to hover over you— your fingers grip the silky smooth sheets underneath you for some semblance of stability, as you brace yourself for what you hope may come next...

Instead, he backs off, returning to his full height as he chuckles to himself. He's glad to see that he still has this effect on you, though he has to quickly remind himself that this isn't the time to play around— not with his emotions gone haywire and his ex-wife next door, hardly separated by a thin piece of drywall.

"Just until she leaves. She needs to think that we're together, so don't act like the nanny— act like... we're in love, or something."

You let out a huff, unintentionally. You haven't 'acted like the nanny' for sometime now, your emotional attachment to the kids... and their father has unmistakably prevented you from doing so for the last couple of weeks.

You wouldn't dare say your thoughts out loud, so you simply nod in agreement. You'll play along with Suna's little game of pretend, as of it was even something you would have opposed regardless.

This is what you've wanted, after all— a chance to get as close as possible to him, access some form of open communication, perhaps break down those impenetrable walls that surrounds his aching heart. This feat alone seems like mission impossible.
