Ten people stood in a circle around the central command console in the supreme chancellor's office. The chancellor herself, Padme Amidalla, her Vice Chancellor, Bail Organa, Jedi Masters Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi Council members Barriss Offee and Grandmaster Ahsoka Tano, as well as General Cody and General Rex, the Manda'lor, Bo-Katan Kryze, and her nephew, Korkie Kryze.
"Maul's grip on the criminal underworld is unparalleled," Bo started, "he has the Hutts, the Pykes, Black Sun, and multiple other smaller syndicates under his control. Someone with his influence and resources is going to be hard to find."
Padme furrowed her brow and swiped through the profile projected before her. "I have several legions stationed in the Outer Rim, there's been no word of him anywhere."
"I recommend a full scale manhunt," Bo pointed out. "I severely doubt you'll just stumble up on him."
"I'm inclined to agree," Obi-Wan said, scratching his beard thoughtfully.
"I'd like to nominate the 212th Attack Battalion for the job," Cody suggested, "We've been pretty stagnant since the war ended, but we have experience tracking, we spent half the Clone Wars chasing Grievous." Bail Organa nodded in agreement, "I agree the 212th would be a good fit for hunting Maul."
Padme looked to Bail, then to General Cody. "If you're ready and willing to take on such a task, I give my whole support to do so."
Ahsoka rested her hands on the console, "I'd like to send a Jedi with them as an advisor."
Obi-Wan took a step forward. "Maul should be my burden to bear. With your permission, Master Tano, I volunteer myself. Besides that, I fought alongside the 212th for years, I think I'd be the best fit for the job."
Ahsoka nodded approvingly, "If that's what you wish, Master Kenobi."
Obi-Wan stared at the holographic projection before him, and recalled everything Maul had taken from him, how many lives he'd destroyed. "It is."
"I'll notify the Republic if Maul returns to Mandalore, although I severely doubt it," Bo-Katan said.
Anakin crossed his arms and scowled at Maul's projection. He said nothing, but Obi-Wan could feel the disdain rolling off his old apprentice in waves.
"I'll keep the 501st on standby, should they ever need reinforcements," Rex promised. Obi-Wan noticed the clone general's left eye twitch and realized Rex's ire for Maul was a close match to his own.
"Same here," Anakin resolved, looking directly at Obi-Wan, "you say the word and I'm there."
Kenobi nodded and glanced at Barriss Offee on his left. He'd remembered Ahsoka saying who she wanted as her final council member would be controversial, but was still shocked by her choice. However Barriss's actions at the Citadel prison had earned her a great deal of good will, although she was kept on heavy probation and allowed very little freedom. However, he noticed it didn't seem to bother the young Jedi at all, as her presence seemed to be in a constant state of guilt.
Padme laced her fingers together and pursed her lips, "Peace right now is tenuous at best. Darth Maul poses the biggest threat to the safety of the Republic's people. I want him found as soon as possible."
