The city glistened like a thousand diamonds, an oasis of light in the darkness. The streets were alive, the roads pumping with a heart the size of Liberty.

It was a busy night, so it was only fair that Spider-Man and the Red Widow checked it out, right? They couldn't leave all the fun to the civilians.

Those honey eyes gazed at her through the mask and his head tilted to the side, almost provoking her.

"It isn't happening" she decided, arms crossed over her chest and her feet planted, glued on the pavement.

"Oh? Is that so?" He questioned, stalking towards her, this time being the intimidating one. His confidence surprised her, but she had soon found he was all talk and no bite, maybe he'd have to prove her wrong.

"I'll just steal a bike or-" she begin, but Spider-Man sighed dramatically and shook his head.

"Widow, we are the ones who are supposed to stop the crimes in this city! Not evoke them"

She nodded sarcastically "rightttt, we're the, what would you call it? Saviours, the ones who help the damsels in distress?"

He started to clap slowly, sarcasm leaking out of each hit "wowww! You've really nailed this superhero thing. Don't let it get to your head"

She smiled at him, all cheek and dimples as she tried not to laugh. "I'm pretty sure my ego can handle it. Yours, on the other hand, I'm not too sure"

Because she could walk away, a muscular arm wrapped itself around her waist. It felt like every neurone in her body just exploded, sending electrical impulses everywhere. Just by one touch.

He brought her in close, pressing their bodies together before swinging of.

"Hold on!" he shouted, tightening his grip. Her arms went around his neck and her legs around his waist. No scream emitted from her, it was as if all sound got caught in her throat and re-digested.

She could feel the wind wrack her hair, likely tangling it up. Salt and grime and fog attacked her nostrils, almost burning them. The air was cold and it chilled her bones, but she welcomed the cold and allowed it to ground her, to slow her heart rate down.

"You good?" Peter had asked after setting them down, but his arm remained on her waist. Nadia looked out at the view. It was completely breathtaking. It was beautiful.

"Where are we?" She questioned instead, noticing they were pretty high up.

"Empire State building. It has a good view" his voice quieted down nearer the end of his sentence and his eyes glided from the scenery and to the girl in front of him.

She looked fresh, and innocent and pure. What with the wind in her hair and her pink cheeks. Of course, he knew her past. Knew of it. But that didn't deter him away.

Maybe that made him stupid. But he didn't care. Nadia was now his friend, and he'd do anything for his friends.

"It's so nice here, Прекрасный (beautiful)". She whispered.

It seemed, even here, the air was too much polluted for them to see many stars. But even when she saw so many few, she wished upon each and every one.

"What are you thinking?" He whispered back. It was as if, if they spoke too loud, this moment would crack. It would break and they would be left utterly injured.

"How can this world be so different to mine, but so utterly similar?" She asked. She was breathless,as if the question knocked everything out of her. Because it was something she didn't know.

She still couldn't tell how she got here. And maybe she never would be able to. But she was sure, with Peter Parker by her side, she would be okay.

She had to be.

"I'm not sure. We'll figure it out. I promise you" he told her, completely confident and true in his words. He squeezed her hand and nodded, as if agreeing with himself.

However, the moment didn't last long. A few blocks away, screams emitted. Car horns sounded and people were running.

Slender and long, a hand pulled round the corner. It was complete darkness. Fear grappling darkness personified into a person.

No.

A monster.

"Fucking brilliant" Nadia muttered. "Urghhh give me a fucking break universe!" She all but shouted, before looking over at Peter and holding her arms out "well, don't just stand there bug boy, let's go be saviours"

He chuckled at her slightly before grabbing her once more.

"Let's go be saviours."
