Kodie POV

I walked into the house from a studio session. The house was destroyed. "Dad" I called out. I didn't hear a response so I walked lightly taking out my pocket knife. I walked to the kitchen finding him slumped against the fridge with bloody hands. "Dad you good" I asked coming over to him. He just stared blankly. He looked at me. "I'm so sorry Ko" he said. "I'm The worst father ever" he said sadly. "I'm self absorbed and narcissistic and it's not fair to you or any of our family. But I know it's been hardest on you" he said. "Your my first born. The greatest gift I could've ever gotten" he told me. "When your mother told me she was pregnant with you I was scared of course because I didn't think I was ready to be a father. But I stepped up and did what I needed to do" he said. "And when you were born" he smiled. "I remember holding you in my arms for the first time" he smiled. "It was like nothing else mattered but you" he looked up at me. "That was the first time I ever had thought outside of myself. I promised myself I would be a better man for you. A guy who you could look up to" he said. "And I think I was doing well for a while but lately I've just been tripping up" he said. "And I'm sorry for that. Your mom told me about your self harming" he said. "And I know that's my fault because me and your step moms situation" he said. My eyes widened. "The bad thing about you is that you have my character traits. Your just like me but not at the same time" he told me. "I wanna make things right with you and North Saint Chicago" he said. "I really wanna make things right with my wife" he nodded. "She's been so understanding of me and supportive and I've been an asshole. Haven't been listening to her" he shook his head. "I asked God for forgiveness now I need to ask my family starting with you" he said. "I apologize for everything wrong I ever did. If you were ever lost by anything I ever did. If I ever misguided you" he said. "If I've ever hurt you" he said. "I apologize" he said as I cried. "I'm gonna be better for you I promise" he said. I hugged him as he embraced back. "I forgive you dad" I smiled. He let out a sigh of relief. I sat next to him. "We got a lot of cleaning up to do" I chuckled. "I got it don't worry about it" he said. "You spazzed on your mom huh" he asked. "Yeah not my proudest moment sometimes it's so hard to keep control" I sighed. "I understand completely" he waved his hands at the floor. I chuckled. "You really meant what you said" I asked. "What" he asked. "I was your greatest gift" I asked. "Your my greatest accomplishment. I raise a smart athletic creative kid who's not afraid to be herself" he smiled. I smiled looking at the ground. "I love you Ko" he said. "I love you too Dad" I said. "And I'm gonna be here with you through this whole process" I said. "What your trying to do a lot of people are gonna have some negative thoughts about" I said. "But the important thing is that your living right now" I smiled. "Your intentions are right so they can't really judge you for it" I said. He nodded. "Your wise" he said. "You wanna go get something to eat" he asked. I nodded. "Seafood boil" I asked. "That works" he nodded. "I'll call the cleaning people" he said.

As we road down the street my mind drifted to my childhood with my dad. The earliest memory I had was my first time going swimming

"Come on princess" he called form the water. "I'm scared daddy" I cried. "There's nothing to be afraid of" he said. "It's just like being in a bubble bath just without the bubbles" he smiled. I shook my head standing their. He sighed getting out. He picked up his phone calling someone. "Do you want to try now" he asked. I shook my head staring at the water. "What if theirs a shark" I asked. He chuckled. "This is a swimming pool princess there aren't any sharks" he said picking me up. He carried me to the side of the pool and sat down sitting me on his lap. "You have to be brave Kodie" he told me as I leaned on his chest. "Even when your scared you have to act like your not" he said. "I understand this is new for you but you gotta try it. You might like it" he said. I gently moved my feet into the water. "Cold" i hisses. He chuckled. "It's a little cold but the longer you stay in the mor natural it will feel" he told me

10 minutes later

I giggled as dad splashed water on me. "Ahh" I squealed splashing him back. He chuckled picking me up. "No daddy" I screamed as he lifted me in the air. He laughed diving back making a big wave. I giggled

New memory

"What you scared of the ball" he asked as we got to the hallway. "Why aren't you shooting" he asked. "Yesterday at practice I heard my teammates talking about how I'm selfish and a ball hog" I said looking down. He sighed bending down to me. "Your not selfish your just confident" he said. "And that's good thing you know" he said. "How do you think I got to where I got cuz I was confident in myself even when people told me I was arrogant I continued to be confident" he said. I nodded. "Don't doubt yourself cuz other jealous they don't got what you got" he told me. "Your teams down by 12 go out their and pick them up" he said. I hugged him. He chuckled hugging me back. "Let's win the game" he said. I nodded.

"Dad I wanna make beats" I told him. He chuckled. "I knew this day would come come here" he patted the seat next to him. "This right here" he explained it to me. I nodded. "Make a drum pattern" he said. I nodded and worked on it. He bobbed his head as I added 808. "Your a natural" he smiled. I added keys to it next. I pulled up a sample on YouTube. "Uhh" I said. He started recording. "The world never knew what Kodie could do. Til she picked up the mic and she put on up a fight. All my life been living the the shadows.
